My friend and I tried pretty much all weekend to install her brand new copy of ME3.  She created an Origin account successfully, but the installation of the game keeps hanging at the game activation phase because of an error "This service is temporarily unavailable.  This could be to server maintenance or unusually high server load.  Please try again later."  This happened ALL weekend.  We went onto the EA game activation website, thinking that if we could at least activate the game there, then perhaps the install might continue smoothly, but no.  Successfully activated the game on EA website, BUT the game still hangs on install wanting to activate through Origin and there is no server availability.

Needless to say we are both very grumpy and frustrated after spending $60 buying a game we cannot return for refund, nor install.

Anybody have any ideas?!

It would help these tech savy folks here if you could tell them what type of system you were trying to install the game on, mentioning the Operating system, and other system information like video card plus what other programs might be running as in Virus software or ?.

I also think people should be asking if you have multiple users set up on your system, if you are getting install issues. It might help to say what geographical location you are in (generally) to get an idea if this is a regional issue.

The ME3 Extended cut took me over 9 hours to download... I paused the multiple downloads that started in Origin and did them one at a time, starting with the main game and finishing all the DLC and trimmings one by one. That was a month ago though, before the latest Origin update. Hope that helps...

Thanks for your reply. :)

Right, she is using Windows 7 x64, and running Eset Nod AV. She's in NZ, same as me - same room in fact!! :) We're both running wireless 801.11n, and I can connect and play without any kind of problem. She's using an older gfx card, nVidia 8800 GT I believe; which runs ME1 and 2 without any problems on Steam (the difference appears to be Origin...).

There are no multiple users on her PC - just her. Hopefully this helps!!

The only thing I see that could be causing a problem is if Nod is blocking activation?
Try disabling that and see if the install goes through?
Hope it gets sorted though :-)

Thank you for that  Image IPB  I'll see if we can have another crack at installing with NOD switched off for the duration.  Maybe it'll work.  I run NOD on my PC too; hasn't caused any probs for me, but maybe it is a tricky hardware + software + NOD configuration on her computer.  Anyway, will try that, and post back any results!!

*Fingers are crossed it is just a matter of turning off NOD!!*  Image IPB

Weeeell the good news is, we managed to get the game installed. Without disabling anything. Which makes me wonder if it was just a server issue at the time we tried to install it. However... once we got it installed, she couldn't stay connected to the ME server long enough to even finish configuring a human soldier to multiplay with, AND, worse still, the store TROLLED her by eating her Starter Pack!!! She got disconnected in the middle of redeeming it, and when she managed to reconnect to the server and go back to the store, her Starter Pack is gone. Vamooosh. Om nom nom. So, at last, a successful installation. Unsuccessful everything else since then.
