I've only just started to use a salarian engineer for plat FBWG matches and I've got the whole decoy thing worked out. Unless someone does something stupid to pull banshee aggro away from either me or my decoy, I can hold them in one spot (along with the rest of the baddies) and let everyone go to town. The same can be said for most of the objectives. At some point I'll venture out and take on plat for real.

I'd say I would be around a 7.5-8/10? I've improved alot recently though.

For me bronze is laughably easy.
Silver is still easy enough, with a hint of challenge. This is where I spend most of my time. Just non stressful fun.
I can do golds, but it's too intense for it to be fun.
(Unless I'm using a Kroguard of course, in which case I can just about solo gold, but that's a special case.)
So I guess I'm a silver level player.
I just play pugs though, and I mostly outscore everyone else by a large margin in these silver pugs, so if I had friends to play with (;_
Due to the friends issue, I don't think there's any reason for me to even attempt platinum.

I don't really play with other people, only randoms, so it's rather hard to compare to someone I know.
I can handle Gold easily, but I do tend to die alot, I'll admit that.

I'm getting through most Silver matches now, but wave 8 is my best Gold, and I'm not sure I'll ever manage Plat.
But it's just so much fun.

I mean, I do well in Silver most of the time without ever using consumables lately (saving what little I have for Gold atm), but I'd probably get stomped in Gold my first few matches until I adjusted to the difficulty.

That said, I can deal damage on Gold, and win waves effectively. Platinum would likely require me to overhaul the weapons of half my characters, seeing as they're geared toward efficiently taking down mooks to whittle spawn budgets over taking out bosses in ten seconds.

I'm pretty bad. Only now am I finally attempting the jump from Silver to Gold and I can't even Solo all of Silver yet. :/

You don't need to be able to solo silver before moving on. I've never solod silver, but I can hold my own in gold.
I think you should just try a few gold games, you don't have to use lots of consumables, if you fail, so what, you've gained some experience.
Just use the class you're most comfortable with and you'll be fine.
