are Quarians idiots?

So we know how the Geth rebeled against the Quarians.
Why didn't the Quarians outfit each Geth unit with a kill switch?
I mean, even in todays world kill switchs are quite commonly used for various Military purposes.
If the Quarians had actually stopped to think about it, they would have outfitted the Geth with Kill Switches.
Would have saved the entire galaxy some real trouble

The Geth never rebelled. They gained sapience. Despite evidence to the contrary, the Quarians assumed this meant the Geth wanted to kill them, since being able to think for oneself means they have to kill the creators.
The Geth reacted. They were being prosecuted because the Quarians panicked at the thought of something smart.
If I were the Citadel Council, I would have blocked off the Rannoch mass relay and let the Quarians pay for their stupidity.

They're just not as cool as everyone else. Cute little buggers, though.

well, that depends who you believe, as each side is saying the other started itZIPO396 wrote...
Having a kill switch and then having that kill switch work are two entirely different things. Besides it's hard to see self defence as rebellion.

Remember that cutscene in the geth consensus? The one were the quarians are all scared because the geth is ignoring their shutdown commands and they resort to a buzzsaw?

They probably did. IIRC, EDI had a kill switch as well for all the good it did the Alliance on Luna and Cerberus after them. The Morning War basically started because the Geth were rejecting the kill-switch. With free-will comes the ability to ignore orders.

commands and kill switchs are not the same thing. A command is directly saying "Hey, go sit in the corner, you do not punch your sister". a Kill switch is knocking him out and carrying him to a cornerKhajiit Jzargo wrote...

And they would have won that war if it wasn't for divine (or opposite of divine) intervention.Marsz. Kula wrote...
Umm, they decided to start a war with at worst, the 4th most powerful race in the galaxy(Reapers, Turians, Humans) while galactic civilization was being decimated. I'd say thats dumber than forcing the Geth to revolt, which was plenty dumb itself.

The quarians will do a lot to defend their position. Plus they have been on the run for 300 years. They're going to want to have someone to villify.
But the Geth showed some real compelling evidence that shows who's fault it was.

The Reapers?
They always did what they were supposed to do. They never screwed anybody, at least not morally. They were also completely honest. They said they intended to wipe us out, and that's all they ever tried to do.
Damn Pod crabs that jump in front of the mako on virmire to block my shot....
