What the heck guys. You make it sound like joining lobbies on console is like chatroulette or something.

Actually, I have no idea how things are on console beyond what is mentioned here *shrug*

But I've met a good number of identifiably female players on PC, and I've never heard any of them being harassed. And the amount of penis-related discourse is very limited.

Heck, I think I can count the number of annoying players (as in: "why don't you revive me, you [expletive]") on one hand, and that's without counting in binary.

Things on console are not nearly as bad as what people like to make it out to be. At least, not on PS3, at any rate. I play this game online a lot, I will PUG random lobbies of all difficulty levels a lot, and I am vocal on my mic. Have not had one person harrass me or make snide comments about my gender. Have also not really run across any all-out jerks player-wise either. Most folks just try the best they can to make credits and have fun... which is the whole point of the game.

Unless XBox is a vastly different world from PS3, it should be relatively the same, I would think. I could be wrong. I've never played on XBox Live.

People talk about their dicks every 5 minutes on consoles? Well, I never. It should be every 6 minutes.

I think the original point of this thread is being lost to an irrelevant discussion. The OP welcomed gamertag submissions from guys, girls & 'n00bs'. She did not say the problem was with all guys that play the game, just a certain number she has come across on her friend's list or random guys. Relax getting so defensive, gentlemen.

Rule 16 is especially true of this game. And I mean on SP. It took 3 games to see one female krogan or salarian. Still haven't seen a turian.

People in here exaggerate a lot. Experiences may vary, but it's nowhere near the extremes some people describe.

From my own experience, people on mics have been generally nice. I can only recall one instance of guys talking guy stuff that made me think "TMI, guys!", and it was quite hilarious in hindsight.

huh....dudes talking about their junk? WTF? i have heard this claim often by ladies....but I have yet to have a conversation with my pals involving our junk (even while i was in the Marine Corps and during my days playing high school sports). and if it came up...it is usually associated with some pain or some other embarrassing "situation" that they would only share with close friends. most dudes i know get uncomfortable talkin bout their units in front of other dudes....and sure as hell dont like bringing it up with the ladies....cept the "special ladies."

IF a man's JUNK is usually being talked about.....lady is hanging out with the wrong dudes.

then again...on the internet...especially the xbox....it wouldnt surprise me. Ive heard 6 year olds spouting anti-semitic, racist, and homophobic rubbish. Usually on CoD. which is why i stopped playing a long time ago....and i usually start a party of 1 so i dont have to hear trash being slung.

on the flip side....i have a female co-worker that talks to us like we were her lady friends....AND I DONT WANNA HEAR about her ingrown hairs near her lady parts that she mistook for VD! and her flows???? WTF OVER??? everyday we gotta hear about how stupid her husband is...poor sod.

anywho....best of luck avoiding the junk.

Guys need to stop being surprised by female players, and female players need to stop feeling special for being female players.

In other news: stop making such a big deal out of it.

Agree.  Yip, so I'm a chick... big deal.   I've also been gaming for over 20 years.  It used to really annoy me when I'd get the whole 'girl gamers are a myth thing', but now.. water/ducks/back.

Case in point.  This happened just today about 2 hours ago or so, and it suprised the hell outta me.  I'm on a big SWTOR kick right now.  I just joined my first guild for ****zengiggles.  I was asked/offered to help out as a tank against one of the world bosses.  I agreed.  They kept calling me 'he' and 'his' and whatnot, and after a while I just said 'She'.  One guy asked me if I was a girl, I said yes.  Can you guess what his next question to me was?????  He asked me if I was a lesbian, and if I prefered to be called a lesbian or called gay.  My jaw hit my desk.

These types of boys really grind my gears.  Back to you Tom.

You haven't seen horror until you've seen two women chatting on a public channel, not caring that it's a public channel, and get into an incredibly graphic conversation about giving birth.  I wanted to jam an icepick into my ear hoping to hit the part of my brain that controls memory.

Wow...being intolerant of misogynistic and sexist remarks is NOT being tightly wound.  I'm not a chill girl--I don't put up with people's bullsheet.  The more women that put up with it the less men have reason to respect us.

I guess I'm lucky in that the dudes I've met are pretty cool.  Some joke about their peens, but they aren't disrespectful or creepy.  But then again some of the people I play with are older than me, and I'm in my 30's.

I will never understand why some guys are so creepy when a girl is in the Lobby. I usually leave lobbies when people are bragging about stuff and the match hasn't even begun. I just want to spend the 20-25min with some relaxed and nice people when I'm doing PUG matches.

I play Xbox and I've NEVER had any bad experiences even tho I do use my mic pretty often. One or two strange/over friendly messages after playing but never any rudeness. I've never had guys talking about their junk either.... I think you must have got really unlucky in the random team mates lottery. Just through chatting to people in random games I've ended up meeting loads of really nice people (mainly guys, but some girls) recently on ME3 MP, they're all really friendly and funny but not inappropriate at all. Xbox ain't that bad B)

Look, I don't want to hijack this girl's thread any more than it already has been, so this will be my last part in it. But wanted to say that all the guys I have played with have been fine/cool/etc. I've not had any problems with them. I also have had no issues either online or in real life by being "chill" or laid back. Guys joke around. Girls joke around. It's when people get really upset over such jokes that fights actually break out and feelings get hurt. Adopting a chill/laid back attitude has also not given me any problems in regards to men not respecting me or whatever.

But again, I say this as my OPINION and my EXPERIENCE. Your mileage may vary.
