I'm a chick and, I'll be honest, I have never heard any of the guys in any of my friends' circles on this game talk about their wee-wees. I'm actually the one who usually starts the terribly dirty jokes, I'll be honest here. LOL

LOL, same here. xD And all guys I've met while playing ME (PC) have been super nice.

But I don't get the trolls all over this topic. Apparently, the OP hasn't had my luck with the guy department and just wants some nice people to play with. I don't get what's wrong with that.

i for one wasnt trying to troll....and understand what she was going for. just felt the need to comment on the genital thing.

anywho...gt is same as the username. im usually on during the weekends and after 2300hrs Hawaii time on the weekday....which is like 0100 or 0200hrs PST..i guess)

1) We're not trolling. Trolling is usually blatantly obvious (I'm assuming that I'm one of the "trolls" you are referring to). We're just discussing legitimate issues that are contextually relevant.

2) There's nothing wrong with wanting nice people to play with. There is, however, something wrong with calling someone "ignorant" while incorrectly spelling the words itself, thereby reinforcing the very stereotype the OP is unhappy about.

3) Also, GreatBlueHeron blatantly misused an offshoot of the term "misogyny" which has led to the discussion between myself and Rifneno.

#2 and #3 are the kinds of things that make guys say "See! That's what we're talking about!" and the fact that a substantial number of women are unwilling to admit/attempt to fix that while continuing to pidgeonhole all of us into the same mold doesn't help their situation at all.

You don't need to be able to solo gold or anything, but please only add me if you know you are decent enough to hold your own in a team.

im thinking it is cuz people are too busy with scripts, aimbots, or someother cheats....so they dont have time to talk.

corporal doody, xcrunr, to be honest, I wasn't targetting you specifically and I am sorry if I insulted you in any way. I just don't get why every topic on this forum has to turn into some big scandal/offtopic discussion. I get it that you guys don't like it anymore than girls to be pigeonholed into some insulting stereotype (jock, sexist, etc.) and that's okay. And I don't think that the OP thinks this either, she's just been a bit riled up over the recent bad experiences, and did not post the topic with intention of it becoming girl/guy war. ^_^

Btw, if any girl/guy/alien (especially if they are of the turian kind :P ) wants to add me on PC, my nick is same as here. I do play mostly Silver though, but I can be helpful on Gold if I pour all my energy into it. :o

Didn't you just fall into the same hyperbolic pit that you are complaining about?  By saying that a "substantial number of women" engage in a negative behavior and stereotype men, you're basically just repeating the same message that the OP delivered.

I play on PC and I've only had one game where a guy gave an obviously female player grief. I keyed my mic and said something like "Dude, that's just wrong, leave her alone". She chimed back in with "Thanks, but he's my husband so I guess it's ok". I was laughing so hard I got killed by a stinking trooper.

On the PC, as has been noted, there seems to be little in-game intolerance voiced. Reports from the consoles seem to show the reverse. This is also indicated by the common use of fascist terminology by some console users when referring to the apparently more tolerant PC community (PC Master Race etc.).

Now, I am aware that most console users will be decent folk who know how to act around others. I am also aware that one of the main selling points of consoles is that they are easy to use compared to PCs and easier to buy (less up front initial cost). We all know that intolerance is born out of ignorance and it seems likely to me that consoles will attract more of their fair share of ignorant gamers due to their ease of use. Just look at the console FGC (fighting game community) for a great example. Again, I am not talking about the bulk of console gamers.

It may be that the best solution is to move to the PC or to more complex games to avoid the ignorance tide. Still, this attempt to educate should be applauded though it may be a big job to undertake.

Good luck OP. You're brave, but you'll still need it with this endeavor.

No apology necessary, but thank you nonetheless. I took no insult, I just thought that on the chance my posts were what you were referring to, I would relay to you my thoughts as to why they were justified and non-troll-esque.

She can be riled up all she wants, but she should know that when you post something, anything, on the internet that has even the slightest potential to be a controversial topic, it's going to blow up like dandelions that were fed miracle-gro.

And if she didn't know this, then better that she learn here on the BSN where the overwhelming majority of posters are pretty nice, level-headed people. Because trust me when I tell you, there are a LOT of forums out there when the word "girl" (or any variation thereof) is mentioned, the vast majority of knee-jerk responses will be something alnog the lines of "t!ts or gtfo"

I do hope that I didn't offend the OP in any way and I apologize if I offended ANYONE with any of my comments in this thread...but this IS the internet, after all. The first forum I ever posted on served to thicken my skin substantially...hopefully this experience will do the same for the op.

Maybe I misread the OP, maybe you misread the OP, or maybe we're both misunderstanding something somewhere in the middle.

This is the specific phrase I have in mind:

Its just nice to meet up and have a devent match without guys talking about their Di*ks every five mins.

I was simply referring to the tendency of a significant number of the women that I have met and conversed with in my personal, business, and online lives to stereotype men...which I think is blantantly clear the OP is doing in her OP.

I do NOT assume all women do this. If I did, and said as much, then yes...I think I would have fallen into the "hyperbolic pit" you are referring to. As it stands now, I do not believe I have.

honestly dude...i could give a rip about the pc and console hoopla! i game on both. i think the hubbub on the BSN regarding the "two groups" is funny at times....

but that dude's comments....

what i got from it....by default console users have "special needs" and arent as "mature" as pc users?

the way to get away from "trouble" is to get a pc?

homeslice needs to sit and spin

I was mostly just poking you and pointing out how easily language use can be misinterpreted.  I think it's hyperbolic for either side to use words like most, many, substantial or signficant to describe traits of the other gender.  Twice you've described women acting negatively, saying that a "substantial" or "significant" number of women are that way.  That conveys that you think that many women act in this negative way.  Which, in general, is what the OP was saying about men, stereotyping them to say that many men act in a negative way.  Both of you generalizing and stereotyping the other gender.

You're obviously better spoken about saying it, but it's still just stereotyping the entire other gender based on limited individual experiences.

I'm usually quiet on tje mix. I have a bunch of kids on my friends list who play and they usually do all the talking until they realize I havent said anything and call my name. So I kind of know the feeling. Come to think of it, I don't have any females on my list. Probably because I havent come across any. Which is shy I've come to the presumption thats women don't play this game.

Haha. Is this where I sign up for the PC elitist course? For all the talk of how console users are ignorant, that was a pretty ignorant analysis.
I for one own a PC, Xbox, PS3, wii. And many other systems. To generalize is just an ignorant move on anybody's part.
