I'm playing a 2H right now and I was really looking forward to using the Griffon's Beak. I had apparently gotten on one of my other playthroughs but for the life of me I can't think of how I did it. Anyway, I just went through the Nature of the Beast quest killed all the Werewolves and ... nothing. I got nothing from Zathrien. What gives?

I didn't go talk to him as the Lady asked so is that what I did wrong? I just slaughered all of the werewolves and gave the heart to Z. Is there another way to get it?

Grr. I really wanted that axe.

Sounds like you only get it if you bring Zathrian to talk to the werewolves first and then side with him

you have to ASK Zathrian for the reward before going to the forest, and after the battle against the Lady is over he will give you Griffon's Beak in camp

Sorry for bringing up an old topic, but I was also on the hunt for the "Griffon's Beak" axe but forgot to ask for a reward when accepting the "Nature of the Beast" quest.
I'm a beginner at the Dragon Age Toolset, could anyone who is good with the D.A Toolset tell me if the registered response to Zathrian can be changed after the fact, in some line of code? Like, "Nature_Of_The_Beast_Reward=True"? (or something)

For instance, in the savegame structure in the toolset I see two subfolders, SAVEGAME_PLOTACTIONS and SAVEGAME_STORYSOFAR, anything one could do there? I mean, I see that every additional gamesave increases in size through the course of the game, so isn't this stuff one of the things that gets tacked-on the pile? Recorded choices?

I've never asked Zathrian for a reward and have gotten the Griffon's Break regardless.

Short version, since I looked into "fixing" things this way:  There's a script(let) or event that needs to fire that actually gives you the item.  Changing the plot flag will change the choice you made, but won't give you the item.  The good news is that using the toolset you should be able to just give yourself the item.  That can be an involved process, but see the discussion on the Wikia site about how to fix Nugbane and that should be a good start on what you need to do.  Good luck.

If you kill the Werewolves straight out, no negotiation or anything, Zathrian just gives the Beak to you, saying something like 'Though you didn't ask for a reward...'

I've never killed the werewolves outright either. I always bring Zathrian to talk to them and sometimes I side with the werewolves and kill Zathrian and sometimes I side with Zathrian and kill the werewolves (and get the Beak after)
