I remember when I played a game with a guy who had the carnifex III, he was mowing down everything. I wanted that Carnifex so badly. I was so happy when I got from a spectre pack that I had to play two silver games to buy it. Biotic explosions working on Banshees was great too... I never understood why that had to be changed...

When I could play a whole night without suffering from bugs...
When Bioware said they have a lot of brilliant and creative plans for operation weekends...
When the first patch came out and it fixed just the half of the "fixed bug list"...
When I was able to aim with a sniper and not every used power caused unimaginable screen-shaking...

I actually remember everyone freaking out about how terrible the GI was at first. I had multiple people try to vote kick me for using a claymore GI back when the class was first introduced.

I wish I had written down names just so I could have laughed at them back during the peak of the "NERF THE GI HE TOO GOOD" phase.

I remember a time when LAG was a manageable thing, something limited to only those with horrid net connections...

I also remember a time when the Vanguard Glitch was limited to Vanguards. And was pretty much the MAIN glitch in the game.

Lol, just thinking the same thing. However, in today's ADHD, instant gratification, easy-mode era of gaming......6 months is a lifetime for a game.

Also, considering the rate EA chucks out games, six months seems even LONGER.

Do you really consider this reminiscing?  I figured the irony was implied here.

When (much) higher ranks would take you, a low rank under their wing so you could complete the Gold extraction for a challenge weekend.

I remember when asari adepts and sniper infiltrators essentially broke the game balance (some farming strats still do...)
Now, rather than Infiltrators being overpowered, it's just shotgun ones.

When automatic weapons were useless against armour - before we had countless debuffs to apply to make them worthwhile, and sometimes even optimal. *coughtyphooncough*

When the lone Atlas was intimidating enough to use a rocket on. And then we left the two Phantoms alone...

When I actually had an FQE. (I know the unlock system is a good thing and needs to stay because it gets us our DLC but still annoying arrrrgh)

If you frequented other game forums back in the day, you'd see a LOT of Drell-Hate threads. There were a few Drell-Love threads too, but... well, they were considered the worst.

IIRC, it was more to do with the annoying and incessant Reave sound.

Remember when...

  • We all thought it would be so cool to play as Geth?
  • We all considered the Human Vanguard to be the "noob class"?

  • The annoying screen-shake spam skill was Shockwave?

  • Everyone wanted the Salarian Engineer?

  • The Drells were considered horrible classes?

  • Infiltrators were more inclined to sniping than using shotguns?

  • We all thought that playable Protheans would be lore-friendly? Oh wait...

  • We were all angry that the Krogan Battlemaster didn't exist?

  • We all thought the Claymore was terrible?

  • The Javelin was a desirable weapon?
If you have any of your own, post them up! ^_^

There was never a point when Geth weren't cool.

I never considered the human vanguard to be a "noob class". Charge nova is a difficult thing to pull of on Gold/Platinium. People who can excel playing that way are pros.

I was never aware of the screen shaking during shockwave. I guess I was asleep.

I guess people no longer want Salarian Engineer because why would you want something you already have? They're a pretty useful class in my honest opinion. Trumped by Geth Engineers but still good.

Yeah, Drells are squishy. So I understand why people underestimated their performance. But Reave + Cluster grenades or cluster grenades + Reave are a fantastic combo. Also has pull to yank enemy shields away. Pretty good in the right hands.

Infiltrators using shotguns? Maybe because the little image of an Alliance Infiltrator holding a shotgun? Anyway, that's actually a viable strategy. Get up close without enemies gunning you down, unleash the ploint blank decimination then run into cover. Lot of infiltrators still play with shotguns rather than sniper rifles.

Protheans not being in multiplayer. I'm happy if they're there. I'm not bothered if they aren't. The whole concept of 11 waves of enemies doesn't fit the plot really. Your superior officer says "survive 11 waves of enemies and do a few objectives." Makes little sense to me story wise. So I can handle the Protheans in multiplayer. Besides it's not like the endings made much sense.

Krogan Battlemaster.  Krogan + biotic charge + barrier + carnage + shotgun + Krogan Charge = Awesome. The only vanguard I can rock on higher difficulties. Still challenging but immensely fun.

Claymore takes a while to get used to. On level 1 it's not that great, but with a few upgrades, that weapon is amazing. Not very forgiving with extremely short range, only one shot per clip and being very heavy. But it's very damaging. Extreme strengths and extreme flaws.

Javelin is still a decent weapon. Geth don't make terrible weapons. Players make Geth weapons terrible.
