4 Krogans wielding Claymores or GSTs on FBGiant.
4 Salarians using Scorpions on FBJade.
4 Quarians using Reegars and/or Arc Pistols on FBHydra.
4 Asari using Disciples on FBGoddess.
This is what makes MP FUN. Not being so srs about it!
EDIT: Oh, and playing drunk MP with friends on off-OP weekends

1. Ability to have 4 player co-op (The last co-op games i played before this were gears of war campaign which was awesome and COD MW3 survival mode. In survival mode it was just keep on camping. Here thanks to the objectives you have to run around the map)
2. Different character classes ( Krogan Headbutt , Nuff said)
3. The maps are well designed (except for thessia and condor which lag like hell for me)
4. The support the dev team puts into the game with weekly updates, ops etc.
5. The stream of free DLC which keeps things fresh
6. Playing with mates and making new ones
Its this last point which makes me come back for more.
7.Doing pretty ridiculous stuff and getting away with it. (Like running into Rio's middle room, reviving 2 of your allies when under cloak with primes, pyros and god knows what else five feet from you and then all of us escaping to safety)

I kinda want to say 'the pace of the combat'; but since that varies by character class, weapon/gear loadout, and number of bosses in a wave, it doesn't even make sense to me as an answer...

- genre - The SciFi theme is not only interesting for myself, but this genre also naturally attract more intellectual and analytical gamers over other "shoot them up" titles with players who only want to shoot or kill things. Of course, I'm not describing all or even the large majority of players, but I've met far more gamers that care for the core values of the game than just logging on to shoot people's heads off. The amount of cussing and abuse are also far less for the same reason.
- COOP - The nature of the game being co-op based remove many of the emotions that come with player versus player competitive gameplay. Players are generally less angsty and more focused on performing well for the team. We all know the downside of a player vs CPU gameplay but I can't say I've enjoyed PVP gameplay more than this.
- power - Most FPS rely on weapon variety to bring different levels of growth path and fighting styles to the game. ME3 introduced a wide variety of powers that are interesting and rewarding. Biotic explosion never gets old, and even today we're discussing how different builds can play well with certain teammates. It's player vs CPU gameplay allows moves such as Decoy or Sabatoge to be effective and fun, not to mention that we're playing against human, then Warp will never hit as we'll constantly roll.
- characters - Even though we're playing with similarly rigged 3D models with 4 limbs, the variety of characters really add a level of endearment to who we choose to play. I'm sure most of us had been in an all Krogan party and scream off the top of our lungs as we headbutt everything... or maybe it's just me and my silly friends.
- weapons - There are countless impressily creative weapons from the top FPS that it's hard to praise ME3 just for its weapon choices. Though overall there is a great balance of weapons that we never see the whole team walking into battle with the same gun. The balance between power usage and weapon weight is an aspect to be celebrated as it really help spread the variety of weapons between different character classes.
- community - Overall, the combination of genre, vs CPU gameplay, and depth in planning for character builds harvest a set of players that are generally more patient, insightful, and mature than communities found in other games. If it isn't for the friends I made in ME3 the game probably stopped being fun a long while ago.
I won't lie and say that now that I'm half way through leveling up my N7 weapons, there's less challange now as we're stuck in a "play Cerberus gold for credits" mode while the other option is "farm gold in FBW Platinum" and be bored, I wish that we can have the variety of playing different enemies and be properly rewarded for it (why play Geth or Reaper when Cerberus grants just as much gold?) I look forward to the potential of new classes and weapons, but above all, I hope that we'll be exposed to new enemies and a more refined gradient of difficulties with credit reward that properly represent the challange you overcome.

Today I found out that the Batarian Soldier specced for Explosive Blades using a Striker with Incendiary ammo is a hell of a lot of fun. I'm sure I'll find something else that's fun and new tomorrow as well.

The ability to make my own little extension of SP in my head around the MP characters.
It's not entirly in your head. The admins roleplay the weekend events through the voice of Admiral Hacket, and within the SP campaign, Hacket will comment on galactic readyness based on your current percentage.
I, somewhat humorously, take it a step farther. I must admit to being one of the harder cases in my scrutiny of the endings, but I diddn't walk away from it all in disgust. I use the multiplayer promotion function to make fun of the lack of 'military victory' option in the SP campaign. Every time I promote in MP and add +75 to my war assets, I further highlight the rediculousness of the situation, and I am gently mocking the developers even as I continue to engage with the game and community.
I'm sorry if that hurts your feelings Mr. Hollen.

When it was fun, the universe was fun to play in, and the temptation of trying to unlock everything kept me going. However, I will never buy a game that has a loot system like this one again.

Too many hours of fun, overloading, throwing, nova'ing with other people who love the game (sorry for the love gush) .
And then theres the 'stuff'.
All RPGers love collecting and hording and finding new things and characters... we just more more things from the ME universe thrown into MP...races, weapons, Fornax....anything.

Another thing that makes MP fun is playing with friends. I played pugs for two months before I found a group of friends to play with here on BSN and it has been awesome. Being able to communicate while playing and meeting new people from around the globe that share my love for Mass Effect. I've met some wonderful people playing this game. My best memories playing MP have come from those matches I've played with friends.
The weapons are great fun as well. Dat Claymore and Talon.
This is really the most fun I've had playing a multiplayer game.

/ Yeah, that describes me too Sonofabumdooda. I was 99% opposed to MP, I was all like "This is Mass Effect! Not Call Of Duty!" Then my curiosity got the better of me and I tried it, next thing I knew 4 hours had passed..
That makes sense. Because multiplayer was first seen in Call of Duty. Fact.*
