Try it out for yourselves. First, stand simply there and heavy melee => you get the normal biotic punch. Then, sprint and heavy melee => you get a nova kind of melee that doesn't dran your shields. Is that old news or am I the first to discover this?
Vanguard has two different heavy melees?

I didn't know that.
Learn something new every day.
I wonder if that applies to other classes.

interesting. I'm liking the adept punch right now. aka: the hadoken. it has a nice range to it.

I've tried it with the infiltrator, the sentinel and the soldier and this applies to none of them.

This is old news, but still interesting. The problem is trying to actually hit anything with a Vanguard running melee. I have tried and it usually ends up with me missing followed by a Critical Mission Failure screen.

I don't melee enough for this to matter. I don't know what I am doing.

I wonder what happens if you take Half Blast Nova, then do running melee -> Nova -> Nova? If I'm imagining this right, the animation for this combo should look pretty damn funny.

Yeah, it seems reasonably powerful if it hits, but I can't figure out the timing. You've got to hit it before you actually get parallel to the mob you're aiming at, because the animation seems to include some forward motion, but landing it right next to them seems less likely to do damage than landing it just past them. Can't even tell if it's actually an AoE or not. If it is it's a pretty small one.

Does anyone have a video of this?

Not sure. Try searching on YouTube. I can try to film something later and have it posted by tomorrow, but Operation: Vigilance takes precedence.FifthBeatle wrote...

As promised, here is a video showing the Vanguard's running heavy melee in action. I get mixed results.
