I tried to start up my game and it says, This account has been banned from EA.

Then the screen just hangs up and does nothing.

I read the EULA, it does state they can ban you for no reason and EA doesn't have to specify a reason.
But what now? I'm not sure how to respond to this? I didn't get any YOU ARE NOW BANNED email or anything.

I did not pirate software, I have a legal unmodded xbox, I bought dragon age with DLC through the legal channels.
Do I have to buy another copy of Dragon Age to be able to play again? This one is registered to this account.
Will I be able to access my current savegames? So many questions and I can't seem to find any answers on the internet.

Thats new. I thought only MS could ban you from playing games on Live. You might have a suit on your hands, I not sure, but EA can not do that with MS property. And, unfortunately no offline. Best thing is to return that game and try and get your money back. DA:O is not worth it.

Contact Microsoft Costumer support about this, if EA banns you from their network [ Which is their right not to mention. ] they still have to explain it, believe it or not, you can sue them for this.

But however, if this means you CANNOT play at ALL, they are abusing their power. Since the console is Microsoft, the game is supposed to be played and not restricted by any other company.

I would also contact MS. They have a really good customer support over here in Germany (at least). One call - one direct help. Just call them. Sure they will help immediatly.

Also sent a mail to EA asking what is going on, this is rather strange. All I can find on the internet is how you can basically get banned for anything without a proper reason. Scary, I think I won't be purchasing any EA games anymore anytime soon.

Indeed, EA's game tend to suck and lack of creativity because they are buying up studio's and suffocating them until they run dry and have to close.

Remember Westwood's success with Red Alert, EA took over and killed it on the spot, not to mention the idiotic banning rules they put up.

The EA staff on their web chat are pretty helpful. They may be able to get the problem fixed faster. Failing that, create a new EA account :innocent:

After you logged in into the game, its not possible to change the login data so far Im informed. Sure, you can use a different gamertag, but your gamerscores are byebye then. Contact MS. Even if they cant do anything, they will collect data...

I am just trying to understand something here ... you say no offline play possible, what do you mean by that? Does that mean if I were to go and unplug my wireless adapter on my xbawks 360 and then try and fire up DA:O that i would not be able to play?

Online is not required to play. The game can be played offline.

I guess he bought DLC, which requires unlimited online access. How would you be able to get it otherwise...

Well if you have a save game that has a dlc item in it like the memory band the game will not let you load your save game. i have to constently tell my wife to get off the computer hook up my eathernet cable to my xbox load DA:O save game then unplug cable so my wife can use the internet

That is retarded. Once you download it, it should be yours and work as long as your xbox does. Is there like a black market for Xbox DLC out there that I'm not aware of?

Another fine example of quality moderation and the veritable cream of customer service, a completely false and superflous statement. seeing as every Xbox360 copy of DA:O shipped with DLC and you can't play with the DLC unless your online. Well at least a mod actually entered the 360 forum and tried to respond with information, guess it's a start, shame she missed my offensive and pointless post not two spaces above.  Fail.

It's terrible how the only official feedback we get on the forum is wrong and does not help anyone at all.

Yep, get use to it. What is interesting is the response you will get over at the ME forums from mods. It is almost immediate. I get the feeling that Xbox DA:O has become an aborted faetus that has been dumped in the trash and forgotten about.

i have a question about EA (since this topic is already about EA). I created an EA account for this game to get online. When i tried to play another EA game online (ex. LOTR: Conquest) it tells me that i have to create another EA account? Doesn't the EA account that i created for Dragon Age consitute for all other EA games or just for that game?

I've had no issue playing offline with my DLC. Hell I haven't connected to Xbox Live in weeks and every new character still gets the Blood Dragon armor and the options to do Shale and Warden's Keep. This must be some strange bug or something but I've never had any issue with it.

why the mods don't state that Bioware is run by Bioware itself and not EA is beyond my comprehension. people keep on going "OMG EA, **** GAEM" as far as i understood bioware is still internally lead, although owned by EA and their products distributed my them.

but this teamup is sad seing as Bioware did better without and service is just below **** it seems. thanks non-personal former 1500-now-750-coorporate-bussiness-all-in-for-money, you're soiling Biowares name.

the sad thing is 60% of my thoughts may be completely wrong. but, it's my way of keeping Bioware as personal heroes.

It happens it you have promo packs like the Collectors edition content, or unlockables from the flash game.....long story short EA has the rights to the items not you....so you have to be connected to there server to use them

Sorry to hear about your troubles, Gracchio. Maybe you could try sending a PM to Chris Priestly or Fernando Melo to see if they're able to help you out.

As for being online to play this game (even with dlc), you don't need to be online. As I understand it, you'll need to logout from your account and then login again. And you should be able to play your game, even with the dlc.

As for playing another EA game, you'll need to make sure your EA account and your password are exactly the same for say LOTR as they are for this game, DA: Origins, I believe.

Please also take into consideration that the people who made this game, DA: Origins, probably are on a long well deserved vacation. Since Bioware is based in Canada, not in the US, people that work at Bioware probably are on Christmas vacation, untill at least Dec 28th 2009 or maybe until January 4th 2010.

The reason why responses from Bioware people are quicker than here is probably because the ME team is getting teady to ship the game in January of 2010.

/facepalm

The CE items are NOT the problem because they are one download slot and one single download. They are promo pack 1 and downloading them once should have them work fine offline. The problem is promo pack 2.

Most of the single items are part of Promo Pack 2 and if you instal one of the items it will install the pack and show all of them as downloaded but your console won't recognize the items offline and tell you that you cannot load the file because DLC is missing. There is an easy fix to this....unistall Promo Pack 2 and indidually donload a different item.....repeat for all the single items you have and MAGIC....you can fully use them all offline without having to log-on to XBL just to load the game....now you can be offline when booting up the game and you can load your saves just fine.

I've had enough experience with XBL DLC and license recognition and playing DLC offline to instantly recognize the problem when I had it.

Although that is certainly how it appears, the moderator is correct. A continuous online connection is not required to play, even with DLC. Obviously, you need to go online to download the content the first time, but as long as you acquire the necessary licenses on your drive, the game does not need to connect to the DA servers every time you play.
