more multiplayer dlc = $$$
Of course it means more money. EA knows there are muppets on this planet who are willing to spend money on trivial things like the spectre package in ME multiplayer.
If there are muppets who are willing to spend stupid amount of money on trivial things like that and you earn millions from it then why the hell would EA stop if gamers are happily being suckers?
Its not corruption if consumers are practically giving their money away for free.
The same applies to Activision with the CoD series. If you can earn millions every years by simply selling the same game wih minor differences, why stop?
It's doesn't matter if it's 'immoral' or not. Companies don't survive by being 'good', if your one of those who used the micro-transaction for any game with real money as a shortcut to get some in-game item which is free and just requires some time to acquire and you dislike/disagree with what EA said in that interview, you only have yourself to blame.

From my personal experiences the people who are against this either don't care for challenges in games, or they are not really good at action combat or even suck horribly at it and have no desire whatsoever to improve themselves.
No, people who are agaisnt this find challenge in different things (like tactics and stragety in contrast to bottun mashing) or play different games for their "reflex challenge" fix..like platformers.
I could easily say that people like you have no desire to improve themselves and shun mental challenge. I would be wrong (in most cases at least)

Todd Howard is an Ancient Alien and would not resort to such primitive acts.

Naw!...You’re never too old. I’m getting up there in age myself but I won’t give up my controller until they pry it from my cold, stiff, dead fingers.
On topic, though, as much as I hate to admit it, the writing’s been on the wall for some time, I believe. I don’t want this to sound defeatist, but there probably isn’t much the SP gamer can do but choose which publishers to support with their wallets. Perhaps this is a cyclical thing and the pendulum may swing back again someday.

we should give todd howard a mini gun and full body armor then put him in a ring with unarmed ea executives.

Especially if the MP in question is boring, useless and a copy of something done better.

its probably because if there is online gameplay they can include an online pass. you know how much ea loves to crusade against used games so i would not be surprised if that had something to do with it.
Probably.
With some kind of online feature, you can charge more for an online pass and try to lessen the impact of people selling back the game early on before DLC can come out.
But I don't understand how myopic EA could be if they simply have a total aversion to SP only games. I'd think the idea with a online enabled or MP game is that you keep people playing for a long time and the longer that player is engaged, the longer they're potentially a source of revenue via extra DLC or even just a set of eyes on advertising (look at how shameless Madden 2013 is with freaking Papa John's ads all over the place).
Yet if they want people engaged with their games for a longer period of time, just look at Skyrim. Its a single player only game and yet on PC at least, the modding community keeps it alive and fresh. Even if you don't get involved in much modding yourself, seeing what people can do with mods on PC might make people more interested in buying the game or buying a copy on PC.
It just seems incredibly rigid and odd for EA to just shoot down any SP only game and try to force in MP or some kind of online connectivity.

Can Bioware find another publisher? Please?
It isn't BioWare anymore. They were purchased by EA years ago and are simply keeping the "BioWare" label to continue to milk whatever benefits that label gives them these days.

It's the corporate drone mentality run amok. What I'd like to know is how crapping all over those of us with a strong preference for single-player games serves the bottom line. Any answers for me, EA?

Oh certainly there are a lot of twitch gamers that don't care one bit for any sort of challenge and just go in button mashing. However my point was in reference to playing on the highest difficulties. I have finished DA:O and DA2 on nightmare, Skyrim on master, Deus Ex: HR on Give me Deus Ex, TW2 on Insane and almost done with Dark Souls, this is not about bragging but rather that between these games I was only really challenged in my first run, as in the case of DA:O, DA2 and DX:HR, or not even that as in the case of Skyrim half way through I crafted a weapon with which I 1-2 shotted almost everyone.
In contrast in TW2 I have been constantly challenged on almost every single run of the game I have played. I have yet to encountered a stat heavy based RPG that has done this, as in constantly challenging me after the first run, if the first run even presented a real challenge: Fallout 3 was a pathetic easy game for instance if you weren't dumb to tackle deathclaws early on.

I really hate this. Today you have to have applications to play games. There's Ubisoft's U-play, Origin, Rockstars's Social Club, Autolog, Cerberus Network and Steam..... yeah I hate Steam as well. I just want to instal a game and than immediately play it. I am not interested in getting those stupid achievements or statistics that are uploaded online. I want to play single-player without connecting to EA (or any other servers).
I really miss the old times, when not everyone had internet connection and split-screen was in many games
Goog Old Games.... GamersGate.
You get to keep the install files on your HDD.
No internet connection required once you download (unless the developer has included some kind of on-line check)
Yeah..
Frak this retarded EA policy.
Like all giants, EA will fall one day. Nothing is forever. I just hope to be there when it happens.

If it's challenge you're after, have you played some of the older D&D cRPGs like Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale, etc.?Costin_Razvan wrote...

The point I made was not in reference to a first or even second run challenge but rather of multiple runs challenge. The way I see it if a game losses any sense of challenge after 1 or 2 run, or hell even halfway through the first run, then that becomes boring after.
And no I haven't played them and I don't give a damn to. We don't live in 90s or early 2000-2003. We live in 2012.

What does this have to do with SP vs. MP? There are turn-based MMO's. Witcher 2 is a single-player game.Costin_Razvan wrote...
