I consider myself a very good player and I used the Raptor on my MQE and SE. Both times I stayed alive mostly and contributed but I was always last on the board with, maybe, 60K.

It's simply not there on gold.

A 30 minute game with a 130K score isn't exceptionally impressive.

It means you probably could have solo'd, but it says little about your actual destructive potential.

whah? i make satire of people claiming to solo in a co-op game while playing with a team. i dont do that.

next time imma take a pic before i bring a score up..but if i recall correctly..the medals were...50 assists, 75 kills, 50 sniper kills, 5 revives, and 25 tech kills.

the weapon is extremely viable on gold. no if ands or maybes!  just be ready for finger spam!

And the Katana has always been underpowered.

However, none of the other shotguns are really weaker then the Raptor. In fact, all of them are stronger.

But the scimitar/desciple/eviscerator/katana also get beaten by that very light Tempest... (Which is as strong as the Raptor.)

(Both do roughly 649 damage per second.)

Here are the numbers for the exact same setup, only the different weapons:

Raptor: 550 DPS / 471 DPS vs armor
Scimitar: 479 DPS/ 328 DPS vs armor
Katana: 463 DPS/ 355 DPS vs armor
GPS: 530 DPS/ ?
Claymore: 587 DPS/ 547 DPS vs armor
Disciple: 422 DPS/ 320 DPS vs armor
Wraith:  525 DPS/ 456 DPS vs armor

The wraith loses only to two shotguns: The Claymore, which is balanced due to its weight, and the Piranha, the best shotgun atm.

I don't quite understand why the Katana is weak yet as heavy as the Raptor. At least make it less heavy so it can be used on caster classes.

I actually only use the Raptor on my silly Kroguard.
Haven't even put it on an infiltrator before.
Now for some odd reason I never want to actually change the Raptor to anything else when playing with a Kroguard.
Maybe I should try the Javelin on him.

The Raptor is kinda light if I remember right. Good for casters unless I'm completely bonkers.

It seems to have something to do with biowares attitude regarding common weapons.

Nope. Raptor does 85% damage when hipfired. Source.

Its hipfire damage isn't as big of an advantage as you'd think.

Hell the Batarian could beat someone to death with a predator.

Like using the katana for that purpose, the sound of unsheathing an actual katana while pulling it out just makes me feel like a bad ass while beating some poor mook to death with it.

There's no need to click really fast, just find out exactly how often the weapon can fire, then click that fast. Otherwise you'll waste every 3rd or so click.

It also used to work great as an actual main gun on a Batarian, given the combo Sniper/Shotgun weight reduction. A Ballistic Blades/Infero Nade power damage specced Batarian Soldier, could have a Raptor and a decent shotgun.
