So its been a while since ive heard anything about a mass effect movie in the making. Ive seen numerous things on the internet about how the script would play out and even seen the IMBD page. All im asking is that BIOWARE give us fans an update on production, making or even something on the film. I dont even know if they start filming yet :/ Its supposed to release this year too (2012) so i think we deserve an update. Be sure to Spread the word to get BIOWARES ATTEENTION!!

IF it happens, it won't be this year. It's either been put on the back burner or the script is still being worked.

I'm looking forward to checking it out but I'm not getting my hopes up about it ever being made either. We'll just have to wait and see.

I would consider it vapor at this point. Studios buy the rights to movies, and then never do anything with them all the time.
Paragon Lost is coming in November; but, I wouldn't count on Legendary Pictures putting out a Live Action movie any time in the next two years.
Remember, IMDB isn't actually official, it's more like a wiki.

I personally hope that it dies. I have no confidence in movies based on video games and I worry that it would canonize Shepard as either male/female, paragon/renegade and I would prefer if that did not happen. If it has to happen hopefully they won't use Shepard at all. Naturally I say this because I'm worried that they would turn Shepard into a male, renegade action star which I would detest.

why wouldn't they make it? the fanbase is more then large enough for them to guarantee enough money coming in to make it

Well, the fanbase is around 3-5 million.
If they all bought $11 tickets, that's between $33 - $55 million.
The average cost of a special effects ladened sci-fi blockbuster, which mass effect would need to be, is now around $250 million.
If you ask the average person about their feelings about mass effect, they wouldn't know what you're talking about.
I was at Otakon and Dragon Con this summer, and the mass effect costumers that I talked to almost always seemed to be explaining their costumes.

I just keep getting flashbacks of Wing Commander. The movie was a flop despite the popularity of the games pre-EA. EA entered the picture, a movie was announced and out popped WC:P (also ill-received) a little over a year before the movie.

For ME: EA entered the picture, a movie was announced and out popped ME3 (also ill-received) a little over a year before the movie.

There. I just got another flashback.

Oh. And a further link between Wing Commander and Mass Effect: The Wing Commander movie starred the guy playing the voice of Vega.

I see troubling connections between the two.

As much as I am a mass Effect fan...I dislike the idea of Game to movie things. They never get it right. I really hope they didn't put much work into it and cancelled it...
I wish they focused on something that wasn't the actual mass effect trilogy, like why not focus on the first contact war!?

Keep in mind that things can move very slowly in Hollywood, and that there are never any guarantees that a given project will ever see the light of day.

It looks like Metal Gear is going to get made first. If it's good (and successful) it might jumpstart the Mass Effect movie. The Halo and Bioshock movies likely would soon follow.

From what I've read, there seems to be a few game related movie projects kind of waiting in the wings. World of Warcraft, Gears of War, Grand Theft Auto, among others.

Avi Arad is behind the MGS movie now and he's determined to do what he did with comics movies to game movies. He made Blade and Blade arguably started the modern comic movie craze.

that was the last update on the movie. The script is already written, its based on a Male Sheppard, the writer is Mark Protosevich, he wrote Thor, I am Legend, and the Cell. The movie is being produced by Legendary Films
