Keep in mind that things can move very slowly in Hollywood, and that there are never any guarantees that a given project will ever see the light of day.

hey guys check this link out if you have more ?'s about the movie. I really don't want the movie to go through. I picture it being some cheesy PG-13 crap sci-fi action movie.

But heres a link with more official info

http://www.legendary...tions-answered/

Also theres rumors all over the internet about Paul Walker (Fast and Furious dude) playing as Shepard. At least he looks like him. Hopefully they put him on the weights before he play's Shepard.

Making a movie about Commander Shepard is a bad idea. We've got games for that. The movie will most likely alienate many fans of the trilogy. I personally have no interest whatsoever in a canon Shepard. It would be far better to focus on events before the trilogy -- The First Contact War would be a great setting (with young Anderson as a protagonist). It would even make the story more accessible to ordinary viewers.

I'm also curious about the budget. I think that in order to make a very good Mass Effect movie, the budget has to be similar to that of the Avatar. The choice of the screenwriter implies that the planned movie will only attempt to milk the franchise.

I agree with the whole budget thing. I know the film's supposed to be based on the first game, now while it doesn't have as many aliens that are major characters (you know in comparison to the 2nd game), it still has enough and they will not be easy to pull off, unless they have a few lorries full of money stashed somewhere. So really unless they go for CGI it may end up looking a bit ify too.

Unlike a lot though I'd look forward to the film, I know game films are usually awful, but there always have to be some exception right? Kinda like how comic films were usually bad, but then Avengers came along and managed to blow the box office out of proportion.

If Bioware just gave us an update on what's going on we wouldn't have to muse so much *sigh*

Well, the fanbase is around 3-5 million.
If they all bought $11 tickets, that's between $33 - $55 million.
The average cost of a special effects ladened sci-fi blockbuster, which mass effect would need to be, is now around $250 million.
If you ask the average person about their feelings about mass effect, they wouldn't know what you're talking about.
I was at Otakon and Dragon Con this summer, and the mass effect costumers that I talked to almost always seemed to be explaining their costumes.

Put Vin Diesel as sheppard and multiply the tickets income by 10.
They should do it just like the games...
Sheppard = Riddick with a crew

Ireally doubt tha a movie with that history, vin diesel, martin shin, seth green and so on would't mobilize all nerds in the world plus all vin diesel fans, plus all martin shin fans

Shepard = Sam Worthington or Mark Meer(the man proved at that parade that he can wear the N7 armor with style)

The Illusive Man = Martin Sheen or Emilio Estevez(he looks and sounds a lot like his father.)

UPDATE: Just a possible idea but what would you fans think of a movie made in this style?? ;)
I like it but honestly id like to see a live action AND a version like this. Id prefer either, though i think this would receive better reviews (accuracy of actors, looks, stuff like that...less nerd rage)

Just make sure Paul W. S. Anderson takes up the Directing role

Unless you want Milla Jolovich playing a character that has absolutely nothing to do with the storyline and is way too overpowered

As much as I am a mass Effect fan...I dislike the idea of Game to movie things. They never get it right. I really hope they didn't put much work into it and cancelled it...
I wish they focused on something that wasn't the actual mass effect trilogy, like why not focus on the first contact war!?

Because they Think they will get more monies from the aduiance because of shepardo being the main char

The ending controversy killed the Mass Effect movie I suppose. The guys from Hollywood not bought the ME universe - they bought the audience and the hype around Mass Effect.

This is real right:

Personally, I'm disappointed it's a movie about Necks. IMO, he was too steriotypical - movie looks canned too.

Movie about Mass Effect = Instant ignore.

If the movie isn't Resident Evil, Hollywood screws up on video game movies.

Mass Effect 3 trying to be artsy screwed up Mass Effect.

So movie based on a failed video game franchise about a hero you guys left in a pile of rubble or dead is the biggest epic fail in the history of Hollywood. May as well forget about the movie idea. Oh wait... you're ignoring the movie idea even exisited with your comment. Good move.

You make it sound as if the Resident Evil movies are actually good.
I'm a fan of that series too and they've butchered the franchise

LOL. Then it came out wrong. :D

I know they butchered it but they didn't make it so terrible that they flat out suck like Tomb Raider, Mortal Kombat, Doom, etc. lol  Although TR and MK had nice escape reality for a little while when there's nothing else to watch for their first movies then totally even screwed that up with the sequels.

Doom just flat out sucked so bad that even Dwayne Johnson took a jab at it and he was in the movie.

*hands lighter*

sorry fresh out of gasoline...:innocent:

was there actually a single game-based movie that is actually good?

not just decent (like Tomb Raider, the first Mortal Kombat, Postal) but actually good.

a movie that even non-gamers could enjoy?

can't recall there ever being one...
