that or just use all the consumables before going into the game when this is going and have no problems i for one will be playing demo with no consumables in the game on bronze this look to be a very brown weekend..no gold or platinum runs

Actually, I was hoping that BioWare could do the whole community a solid and just disable said consumables for the duration of the mission this weekend....would make it real simple to achieve the goal, wouldn't waste time on a mission that someone used a medigel on wave 1 for.... of course a bunch of non-Missioners would probably be upset....still think that is the best approach.

yeah many people are hoping for this, but it's not going to happen =/ too bad there can't be a mission setting to just turn consumable use off for that match or something.

Then there's always the problem of trolls who will say that they won't use and didn't use, but actually did just to screw you up. That's why I'm not even gonna waste my time. As a gold player, I'm just gonna solo bonze geth on firebase ghost with a krogan soldier (making it incredibly hard to die at all) and get it over with in like twenty minutes then have the rest of the weekend to play normally. Then nobody can screw me over and I'll know I have achieved the squad goal.

with the 2850 shields (plus a level II shield bonus gear and a level IV shield bonus equipment) that the krogan solier has, plus his extremely high health, there's no way I'll lose... that is of course after i try it without the level IV shield bonus.-> successfully did it today, so i'm hoping I'll have good luck tomorrow, too.

I see dates, but no times. When does this operation start and end? If I assume that it begins at midnight on the 7th, then midnight in which time zone?

Do you see the countdown clock at the top of the page?

Sure the Countdown Timer clears up the question of when the Operation will start, but the Announcement about the Operation in the ME website usually has the timeframe of the Operation clearly specified. This is not the case for this Operation, so should we assume that the Operation starts when the countdown stops and lasts for 24hrs or is this Bioware's way of trying to promote people visiting the forums more, because once the Operation starts, the "Time to complete the Operation" is mentioned at the top of the page, hmmm???

This will be good. Squad goal is easy enough, just going to bust out the Novaguard and its a breeze.

I feel really really sorry for Chris, for having to deal with people like you...

The ending time is the same as it always is. Look at the past operations to find that. It's like you expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter >.<

Also, when this countdown timer ends, a new one comes up counting down to the end of the operation.

That would take all the fun out of it for me. It's about self-control. It would be easy to do this on a technical level, but we must master ourselves enough not to act purely from muscle memory and use consumables. It's a challenge I take happily and I trust my team to handle it.

Its not about self-control. I can make sure I don't use those forbidden items. But how would I know if someone else did? I mean there is no way to make sure you made the sqaud goal unless you do solo. But disabling the consumables makes sure if you get extratced, you have the commendation pack in your pocket.

Players on xBox who are wary of this challenge who are wary of other idiots who will try to screw them over can rely on me. If I am your unit this weekend and you haven't met the personal goal, let me know over game chat and I will refrain from locking in that thermal pack.

My forum ID is the same as my gamertag. Look me up sometime tonight or Saturday night.

I will be breaking out the Winter Paladin.

C'mon, man. That works to your advatage. No one will know if they succeeded until the pack arrives so it would be in their best interest to never use a consumable at all this weekend just in case.

Of course, it might help if players actually used mics, communicated with their squad, and trusted in the other person's ability to get the job done. Y'know, like actual military units do.

A little teamwork and esprit de corps will go a long way.

Souns good as long as nobody is trolling :).

But I have a problem which most of you don't. I never (I mean NEVER) get commendation packs until I contact EA support. So unless I'm sure that I am entitled to it, how can I ask them to give it to me?

I'll be playing this evening around 8 or 9pm, Ireland time. I'm going to wait til kiddies are in bed so I don't get distracted and use a consumable. I think this op will be a challenge and there is no point making it harder by having the kiddies underfoot while trying to play. Again, my GT is DarkFaerie316 if anyone would like to add me on PSN :-)

I think just for this weekend they should have a 'name and shame' section at the end of every mission.

That's a good idea actually. It would also serve to tell us if we got the squad goal so for those who have trouble getting their comm packs, they'll know whether they are supposed to have them or not.

Also the shame of ruining it for everyone else would stop people from using consumables

Maybe everyone should just go all weekend without using consumables and all help each other out atleast then we all would get the goal cos some people can't play till later in the weekend

That's assuming that nobody reflexively presses, say, survival, and that there aren't people playing who just don't know or don't care about the objective.
