It should also be mentioned that there has been more discussion about this op then I've seen for past ops. Maybe its just because I'm relatively new here, but it seems like this one has really brought the community together.

agreed, i never had to add some one from the forum to do a OP but some how i just had to on this one and i have no regrets. It was great playing with BlackandGreen and Datdude1970

Ha! Agreed! And we even came up with our own little communication mechanism without headsets!

Kind of sucked when the origin friend system went down (not sure if it was just today or before then.) I was going to help a few people but had no way to get into matches with them. =\\

3 escorts in one game which was a bonus.. Quick solo and then played a couple of random bronze and silver thinking I could help others with squad goal.. Same result 3 in a row- Team survived 5 waves but never got to 10 waves survived .. Bit of a waste of time. No wonder so many chose to solo.

This challenge looks pretty good. A nice mix of goals. If anything hopefully it will keep squad cohesion up and help against loners or stragglers.

I like this Operation. Difficult & Challenging. This will be fun.

Hoping for Hurricane as a Reward :D

On diamond - i think definitely yes, but we will see. Maybe.
On platinum - yes. Sometimes.
On gold - not really.
On silver - no, definitely not.
On bronze - hahahaha. Good joke. Really.

Yeah, i've been in a few matches where this happens. I wish there was a way to report these people. It's pretty obvious they are doing it intentionally.

Yes, but for what? They are playing the game the way it is intended to be played - using rockets when necessary. It's hardly their fault Bioware comes up with a retarded metagame challenge that conflicts with the base game for the sake of making a more effective Skinner box.

You should blame the players then and not Bioware.  Bioware presented the challenge and from reading this froum.  Many are not up to it. .. whatever excuse.

How can you be sure they didn't use Ops or Ammo packs?

If i am playing with friends, gold can be done easily without using consumables. Btw, even on platinum for most of the time i use ammo packs so i can have more grenades faster, cause i'm too lazy to go around looking for them or there is too much granade users. As for the rest, no, not rly.

I've had a great time this weekend. I've done quite a few missions and quite a few escorts and made quite a few friends. To all those I've played with this weekend, it was great playing with you and I really enjoyed it. Hopefully, for the next weekend and the ones after that, we can work together again and get them done *smiles*

It's been a rough weekend for the squad goal for me, but I managed to get in a few matches on bronze public fbw/geth on Sunday. Thanks to the players helping on the squad goal/s over the weekend. A lot of players seemed unaware of the op this weekend. Hope we all contributed to the allied goal as well.

Ok, now I can only hope that during the 70 missions I've done this weekend someone listend to when I said "No consumables please" ...
And it seems like they've done something with the servers. Only one DC, a completely new experience ^^

I see dates, but no times. When does this operation start and end? If I assume that it begins at midnight on the 7th, then midnight in which time zone?
Do you see the countdown clock at the top of the page?

Sure the Countdown Timer clears up the question of when the Operation will start, but the Announcement about the Operation in the ME website usually has the timeframe of the Operation clearly specified. This is not the case for this Operation, so should we assume that the Operation starts when the countdown stops and lasts for 24hrs or is this Bioware's way of trying to promote people visiting the forums more, because once the Operation starts, the "Time to complete the Operation" is mentioned at the top of the page, hmmm???
I feel really really sorry for Chris, for having to deal with people like you...

The ending time is the same as it always is. Look at the past operations to find that. It's like you expect everything to be handed to you on a silver platter >.<

Also, when this countdown timer ends, a new one comes up counting down to the end of the operation.
I'm sorry for replying to this one a wee bit late, but seriously? Did I hit a nerve or something, or are you just annoyed that I just happened to ask the question that was on your mind? Need I remind you that the time frame for the previous Operations have not "always been the same". Case in pont:

Operation Alloy(August 24th 11AM MDT – August 26th 5AM MDT)
Operation OLYMPUS (August 10th-12th) - No time specified
Operation OVERWATCH (July 27th 10AM PDT – July 30th 5AM PDT)
Operation: Broadside (July 13 10am PST - 4am PST July 16)
Operation: Savage (June 22, 6pm PST- 4am PST June 25)

Need I go on??? Yes, I may be basing my case on a "technicality" of sorts, but still, I'd appreciate it if you got your facts straight before you post something like this.

And really?
I feel really really sorry for Chris, for having to deal with people like you...
I admit I may have been a wee bit insecure as to the timing for this Operation, which is why I asked the question, and I also want to add that my question is still unanswered.

Had a guy drop into one of my matches yesterday, fire a missile at a boss enemy and drop out of the match. I think this kind of griefing should be bannable during weekend ops. I didn't give much of a **** because I solo'd mine, but what about those poor newbs who can't solo for lack of characters or weapons?

Another OP like this one and I'm pretty much done.

Had that done a few times. Or a few sneakier players drop in and pop an ammo pack at the start. (Reloading when your gun hasnt been fired. You sly bastards...) Think the goal would've been better as an individual count... or even an Allied goal that tallied up players surviving on 0 consumables. Relying on our fellow online gamer, however, seems to be a trust fall exercise where half the time there actually isnt anyone behind you.

Soloed my 2nd solo, just in case and then joined some random bronze matches. Before last mission on FBG Bronze, I told them not to use any consumables, because there were 2 new guys (lv 30&60). Topped scoreboard with AA+Paladin IV and nobody used any consumables until wave 11.

He did nothing illegal. He sacrificed his missiles to help you with a boss without getting any reward.

Sure, his intent might have been to grief, but it's not his fault Bioware made a retarded operation objective that conflicts with the game is played [all for the sake of building a better Skinner box to keep the uneducated masses addicted]

Ask yourself this: Do you play the game because it's fun, or do you play to get the rewards? Do you think that's a good development?

So what you're saying is that if he was griefing the other players, it was justified because he didn't like the objective of the weekend bounty?

I think that if you don't like the requirements put forth by the designers, then you are in no way obligated to abide by them. But it is different when you actively make the effort to ensure that other players either can't or struggle to complete the objectives.

There are those that argue that the challenge is silly because it's easy for most players to solo a bronze mission without consumables or that you can't know for certain if you've completed the objective or not.
To you I suggest looking into the consept of community spirit. Part of being in a community is trusting the people around you.
So if your initial idea is that the people around you are incapable of following the simplest of instructions, then I'm afraid you're not realy a part of the community, but rather just a cynical spectator.

If you have no plans of co-operating in co-op multiplayer, then you might as well go somewhere else to play with yourself.

I played a lot of matches and I didn't see any griefers.  Maybe I'm just not very observant.

And while I solo'd the goal, I think the Op did succeed in fostering greater communication and teamwork.  More communication, helped a few people through the Squad goal, made a few friends.  And look at the long threads hooking people up.

In a lot of play, my escort percentage was 22%, essentially expected value.  I think we have a good chance of succeeding.

What's retarded? These are called Weekend Operations or "challanges". Some feel it's a challange not to use consumables.

Either this was griefing, that is: ruining the experience for other players, or it was an uneducated mistake. In any case he should bee warned.

This is a game of teamwork. It's not designed to let a player to make it harder for another, thus, any attempt is not funny and bad spirit.

Nowadays, I play ME3 multiplayer only during the weekend events so that I could get the packs. But if the game is not fun, why would I bother about a couple of packs?. So I guess the game is still fun, but mostly to those who have things left locked. They should give the weekend missions on every weekend, and make it more interesting.

I liked the objective for this weeks squad goal. My only complaint is there is no way to know if you made the goal or not. I mean atleast they could have given a report at the end of the match. That way everyone will finish the match trusting each other; and at the end know if the trust really paid off.

Agreed.

However, this weekend's mission  taught me self-control
