He did nothing illegal. He sacrificed his missiles to help you with a boss without getting any reward.

He dropped in to a public match, used a consumable and then dropped out. That's not just griefing, it's trolling.

If he/she didn't like the operation objective they didn't have to play.  Screwing the experience up for others is just petty.

for stuff like this they should have a match option called challenge match that locks stuff for challenges like we had this weekend

Combine that with a notification on the summary screen after the match and we're all set.

It would probably not be possible to show "% of Allied Goal Completed" (compiling, in this case escorts completed, from all over the world would be damn near impossible).
But giving a "Squad Goal Completed" tag on the bottom of the list along with the challenge type, number of waves survived and full/partial extraction would be nice.

I've played a lot of matches this weekend to increase my chances of completing the squad goal, and there was hardly any of the drone missions, so I don't know about this one.

Interesting weekend. An upgrade from Origin a bit prior to start of "the operation" and it was "buggy" for awhile - several drops in a row and a couple or "running in place" before the drop. Those had to be a headache for the people that I was with. It finally cleared up after a weird mission with a great team. My player would run in place or was able to sometimes do a "combat roll" - my team kept me alive until I rolled to the extraction area were I was stuck in a wall for the rest of the game ( I could shoot and score or die, but not move). The team kept me alive and did all of the objectives for four or five rounds and we had a full extraction plus I am sure we followed all the rules. Great job - by them! After that game - pretty much stable. I played as a "random" mostly on Bronze and got to play a bunch of games (usually) with some great team players.
Enjoyable weekend.

i find it funny that before this event people would complain about the ones who never use consumables and all weekend people did the opposite. obviously it's justified for both but still amusing. btw i'm 100% positive we got this.

However, this weekend's mission  taught me self-control

Oh, I did that too. Back when I was spending credits only on jumbo packs to get 255 of each consumable and make rng start giving me more weapon & armor amps :P

This time I tried to solo FBW with my N7 Demolisher on Bronze, got to wave 10 before I was overwhelmed :D Didn't give Cerberus enough complimentary Arc Grenades

Well this is finished then.
There was significantly less escorts this weekend but atleast I probably got the squad goal.
I guess that the time has come to play the waiting game. B)

But we will get a commendation pack for each time we accomplished the squad goal?

If it would go like that then there would be too much commendation packs running around, making them loose their value, so the system is pretty basic :
You have to assasinate a target -> you do the job -> you get paid for the ONE target, not the rest you killed on the way.

In short : "No"
:crying:

Terrible event. Solo'd mine in a bronze. Tried 5 times to do it with a group, someone always screwed it up. Epic fail on this one (most of the rest have been awesome).

I am annoyed with myself, mostly because I interpreted the Squad missions wrong and assumed that as long as I didn't use any consumables, I'd be ok. Now I am quickly realizing that regardless of how many times I completed a match without using a single consumable, I know that some idiot in my group did. So I am now pretty angry, both with myself, and for the instructions / objectives being easy to misinterpret. Would it really be that difficult to provide a notification for when you've completed a mission?

Probably, because that is not a feature they really anticipated so modifying the programming to keep track of dynamic objectives (i.e. something different every weekend operation) would be a pretty tall order. Well, maybe you got lucky. Hope you did.

I personally just got that out of the way on a solo Bronze match first then in subsequent randoms, did not use consumables unless I know that somebody else used a rocket or medi-gel, to not screw anybody else over. A few folks at least were being polite about it.

I don't think progress tracking would be too much of a problem.

Look at all the announcement of the operations :
The materials, announcement and the GUI Template appear from nowhere.

So it may be hard keeping up-to-date with the server and sending the informations, but if we already managed to pick informations from player profiles and send them to the player's multiplayer manifest then this should be easy in reverse.

This was a hard challenge!! I just hope that nobody in my group lied about using consumables.

i managed to complete the squad goal with a great team, no-one used any consumables, we stuck together, revived eachother, and no ammo or other stuff used including misile launchers, i did have gear on though, i hope that was allowed

Almost positive that having gear equipped is ok.

And what you experienced I would think was one of the intentions behind the squad goal - people actually playing together on the easier difficulties, and even opening communication with each other, instead of simply running and gunning for the most kills. This is contrary to a lot of feedback in the op threads here, where a lot of people feel like this is to force people to solo and create distrust amongst players. I'm sure it's gone both ways though - good and bad experiences. Probably one of the more frusterating things is that if people dont have mics on, you have no way to communicate ahead of time that you're trying to achieve the squad goal, unless in the case of Xbox users who can send messages to people. Not sure if PSN allows you to send messages to non-friend listers.

I kept trying to solo Bronze and am not quite good enough for that. (without using at least one RL or revive). Kept getting overwhelmed on escort in later rounds. (One time, right after escort finished on round 10 got cornered by 2 primes with no cover.)

Of course, I really don't like the nature of this. It's hard enough to get people to use consumables when it is needed, and once a segment of the population did it, they didn't want to do it again.

there's an easier way to do the squad objective- just finish a game on bronce by yourself (without dying, of course)
(i was too lazy for it though, just came up with it today 2 hours before the time limit and ended up giving up on it)

But it is feasible, just go to firebase white, geth bronce, preferrably with a N7 destroyer with some nade gear equipment (I used his +40% shields devastator mode and +2 thown multi nades and added more nades to the loadout with the warfighter gear upgrade (the one where you get more nades and assault rifle dmg), then a Saber assault rifle II and a Piranha

With patience you can do a mission on bronce without trouble when using that loadout, since you can keep off any enemies with the grenades and the supply boxes give a lot of them on bronce difficulty at once

Bronze is like casual, very hard to die unless you are inexperienced or commit some dumb mistake(like sit on a enemy grenade xD).

We need more operations like this one, it's interesting.

i did it the firs four times saturday, thanks to the ramdom guys that i played with, perfect, none used packs(four games to be sure none used them).

Next challenge dont be so partner dependant please, cuz the troll factor maybe screwed many peoples efforts. I cant control what other players use.

btw i cant wait to see the results, i liked the drone escort game.

It depends on what's on the server side, and what's on the player side.
If the change has to be made on the player side, then that would mean a patch would be required.
Server side would require some rewriting of code that I imagine isn't exactly "Hello World".

If they could make a permanent feature that tracked consumable use for each match, then it would not be completely useless beyond the weekend mission.
Imagine if you could see that the guy that just beat you on the scoreboard had used all his consumables to beat your score. It would certainly make me feel better about not topping the list :D
