So let's say multiplayer is in

Personally, I'm thinking Co-op in a separate story campaign specifically designed for a group of two or four that expands on, say, a battle that was alluded to but never portrayed in the single player campaign, possibly released episodically.

Separate install
If I need to install it to play SP, it's not optional enough.

I would like equipment/monetary rewards that could be transferred to my single-player game.

If there is co-op i just hope they make a split-screen option. I'm sick of multiplayer games that I can't play with my friends while they are over.

ME3 multiplayer gave us a chance to finally play as something that was not human, so I am hoping that DA3 multiplayer would finally give us to play as non-human races again, like in DA:O. I would definitely like to play as a dwarf or especially a kossith, at any rate.
That said, I would *not* want to see a repeat of ME3's Galaxy At War mechanic. It was ill-conceived, to put it mildly.

Today, all of our games include online applications and digital services that make them live 24/7/365."
DA3 will not be a single player only game. People can make claims as to how adding muliplayer or co-op will have no effect on the single player experience, but my experience tells me otherwise. I'm done with EA games in general, and Bioware in particular. I have an Origin account for sale with ME3 if anyone wants it.

Just read an article that quotes Frank Gibeau as saying, "We are very proud of the way EA evolved with consumers. I have not green lit one game to be developed as a single player experience.

I didn't do either. BioWare & EA are a business, so they are free to take whatever direction they feel best. I won't be buying it though.

Great, that wasn't the question I asked. I asked about preferred multiplayer options, not how much people don't want them.Welsh Inferno wrote...

Really? You took that as "wailing and gnashing of teeth"? My, what a precious little one you are.

I guess so you and your friend need to buy 2 separate copies of the same game? All of the best memories I have of growing up were having my friends over to play split screen multiplayer on Goldeneye and Mario Kart.
Thank god for Borderlands 2 coming out soon!

I wish there was more of WoW kind / quality MP content online but there simply isn't.
Dragon Age combat is simply not good enough to make a challenging raid or instance that can hold the interest of 10 or 25 people to come week after week to beat it. And even if it did, where would I show off the gear, title and mounts that came with it ?
Making MP parts for games that aren't MMO is lame IMHO. There is no incentive, no competition. Make it Co-op if you must, this way a lot of us can invite our friends that don't play as well and take them adventuring. "Girfriend mode" the thing.
I'd love to take my little kids through parts of Thedas, and I'm sure a lot of BF or GF would like the opportunity ot get their loved one into DA. Co-op would be fun. MMO style MP would be pointless

What if it were based on SW:TOR Flashpoints? Their style was sort of what I was thinking of for an episodic game style.Renmiri1 wrote...

Also, there must be an option to play with customizable bots in place of players for when I'm either offline or don't have enough friends online to join a lobby. Also, no RNG microtransaction system; I'd want a traditional store where I can buy what I want with in-game money only.

I'd like to only allow this co-op in certain instances, such as large battles or places where the game is going to be combat heavy. You would queue up in a lobby to have people wanting to instance the same area, like you see in MMO's. Then you could co-op the area with people who are controlled by human AI, not computer AI (AI companions seem to have terrible abilities staying alive in DA2).
All that aside, I don't want any Arena or PvP multiplayer or anything that would involve anything outside of the single player game, because it just doesn't belong. I don't want to see any loot, quest, story, lore, XP, gold or ending bonuses to playing multi player for the single player campaign. None. If I read one review that smacks of ME3's hidden ending that required MP for months before they even acknowledged they did it (let alone fixed it), then it will be an instant no-buy. For both myself and many, many other players.
EDIT: To clarify the purpose of the instances - I've heard the complaint from MANY who played TOR that they loved the deep story and conversations, but felt pressured to skip them because they had others in their group who gave them grief for actually paying attention to "story" on other people's time. I want to keep it so I can visit and talk to any and every NPC after every quest if I so desire, without having to worry about the person/people I am co-oping with hassling me. Then I can just hop into a lobby when I'm about to fight the Archdemon or something.
