It's probably too much to ask, but a separate story mode with co-op that takes you on a different path from the main protagonist would be great. They could use a lot of the same locations and what not, but keep the stories separate to prevent your main PC from being controlled by the game. Decisions could be made as a team with a vote system or with a system that randomly gives one of the players the choice. And I know people would complain, but some advantages to the main story could be gained by playing the co-op mode, like a a group of mercenaries looking for your PC being killed in co-op before they can attack you.

A boy can dream...

I was thinking on what Mike Laidlaw said about using the BG2 system for multiplayer, and I think it could be a good idea because in BG2 I could use multiplayer to play a solo game but create my own party of six characters.

So if in DA3 we get companions as annoying as Fenris and Anders who I never used anyway I could replace them with my own companions.

Separate to SP, no direct impact between SP and MP story wise is what I would prefer personally if we have MP. With exception of maybe using SP characters in MP but no requirement for MP playing in order to get everything in SP.

I am not sure how much faith I have in them making it work like BG. Specifically if can be done well which is why I prefer not taking the risk of MP impacting SP unless by some slim chance they can pull it off well but quite honestly I don't think they have enough people skilled/qualified in MP design to make it work (at the moment) for DA3. If they could pull it off well then I would probably enjoy it though.

One thing will say is I want maybe some social aspects only if the game is designed in a way which it could improve it like the crafting idea of if they go down route of crafting expanded on as a gameplay feature in SP then maybe social aspect can work in that regeants, equipment and recipes can be socially transferred between friends from those who like crafting to those who do not.

I would like multiplayer in the style of Baldur's Gate or Icewind Dale, or perhaps either of the Neverwinter Nights games. People who don't like it can ignore it all they like, and I do enjoy having the option to play through the whole game with a friend or two at times. I would, in fact, prefer having such a multiplayer to not having any at all. I've missed that cropping up in games in the last few years.

That was an excellent side effect of the multiplayer system in Baldur's Gate, to be sure. I've always suspected it was accidental, but I would like to be able to create a full party again.

I too would like to see a BG/NWN style multiplayer component. But I would like to throw out there that, in the case of NWN, the success of the multiplayer component seemed (to me) rather dependant upon the availability of a toolset so that the community at large could create additional content.

LAN co-op mp is the only mp that would have any interest for me at all. And absolutely zero crossover between sp and mp in any way, shape, or form.

Better yet though, no mp and spend those zots on the sp instead. Frank Gibeau is in no danger of finding himself on my christmas list. I cannt recall a single statement he's made over the years that hasn't made me seethe.

From what I read from that article what they did with Dragon Age 2 would fit that requirement from EA. Dragon Age 2 felt like it had a digital and social presence with a Facebook game that only gave a couple of bonus items for use in the retail game.  So if that is all it is, I would be fine with it.

I could get down with some co-op, as long as it doesn't siphon resources away from single player to the point we get another DS3 or something. For me this is waaaaay down my list of concerns for DA3 however.

What if it were based on SW:TOR Flashpoints?  Their style was sort of what I was thinking of for an episodic game style.

Hmm yeah, I remember back when I did the first Flashpoint in TOR (one month after launch)...I thought "he, that's actually pretty neat. They put some effort in the cutscenes". I really wanted to expierence the story...but everyone else in the group already was on the 2nd+ character, so the chat window pretty much consisted of: "SKIP SKIP SKIP ... common SKIP SKIP . it's boring ! SKIP".

No thanks.

I would like equipment/monetary rewards that could be transferred to my single-player game.

This. Wealth tends to be limited in bioware games. If they keep that trend up then something that would get my character some extra coins would at least get me looking.

Pff it sound like every game that has multiplayer.. all are the same and at the end of the day every new content goes to... multiplayers! rofl..

If EA is going to force multiplayer I hope it has bigger server.. I have no clue how big it is right now but I know for experience that if for any reason Dao or da2 log to the server the single player lags alot more than diablo2 servers 13 years later.:pinched:
