I have to agree that there is lots of good advise in this thread already, but I wanna add something, too.

As others have said already, you don't have many really good weapons, yet, with the Widow, Claymore and Hurricane being the exceptions, so you might want to use power based classes first to get higher scores. That's what I did in the beginning, too, and it helped me immensely.

A tip for bronze would be the vorcha sentinel. With bloodlust specced for survival, you can practically run right into spawns and melee everything to death, without breaking a sweat. A bonus is that people might actually back off and allow you to kill stuff, as they know that you depend on having your bloodlust stacked (at least on higher difficulties I often do this).

For a really good time in silver I would recommend the shadow. Put the lightest shotgun you have on her with the melee attachment (at least until you have the pistol melee mod), as it improves shadow strike, spec her for duration, melee bonus and bonus power in taccloak, shield drain and electric effect on SS and all melee bonuses on sword mastery and you will barely have to use your weapon at all. With all those damage bonuses you will even be able to OHK phantoms on silver.
You might want to try her on bronze first, but I'd say she works much better on silver, because if you use SS on bronze, your target is often already dead when you arive, leading to much frustration. Here it might be better to simply use electric slash on mobs to get a better score.

One last thing regarding points, as you said you like to use the quarian infiltrator. For some reason sabotage backfire damage does not grand you any points, so if you use this character, your score is bound to be lower than it normally would be. It doesn't mean that you do badly with her, it's just a stupid bug.

Hope this helps, and lots of fun playing! I'd invite you to a game, but I'm on PC, so that's not going to work.

I have just printed this out. Thank you

You have a lot of advice to consider here OP, but do think on this alternative perspective. ME games are RPGs, not table top war games. It is all about playing your role and having fun. If you die often with a fun to play build, then you die. Just try to die well. It's all part of the role you're playing. Getting all picky about the numbers is to miss the point. ME is not supposed to be a maths problem and when some suggest it's all about clearing the map as efficiently as possible they are discounting a lot of fun char builds and weapon loadouts simply because such don't fit their calculations ideally. Some such people even consider playing the game any other way is playing it 'wrong' with 'unviable character builds'. Don't listen. Trust me, the 'elite' calculator players will lose interest in this game way before the RPGers do. Just role play and have fun with ME games. Use Excel if you want to do maths.

Lots of good advice, here's mine, fwiw.

Right now you have a lot of nerf weapons, a few decent weapons, with limited mods and gear.  You have a few decent characters that can minimize the impact of weapons, e.g. Slayer and Shadow or are more tolerant of heavy weapons e.g. demolisher.

Shadow Strike is awesome to behold when fully specced and your gun becomes almost an afterthought.

Same for the Slayer's biotic charge.

You have slash to help others out with bosses, clear crowds or stun before running in to revive (as an example).  Slash has a bad rep because people spam it, but if your primary weapon is strike or charge, noone should be giving you grief and you will certainly help the team.

Keep your weapons light and CD maxed for caster classes.

Later, as you get better weapons, mods, gear and characters, you can take your (future unlock) Justicar out for a spin with decent weapons and powers and really rock the joint.

For now, your Phalanx is a decent sidearm with your extended barrel mod, same for your Raptor.  Each is fairly light in its class.  Later, when you get the AR extended barrel, consider your Mattock.  Does decent damage but is light relative to some of the other AR options or does more damage than some of the lighter AR options.

The Hurricane is great, but it will be a while before it is light enough to carry a second weapon and keep your CD high for you caster classes.

All that said, your Demolisher is not so sensitive to CD, so you can load her up with the widow and hurricane or mattock and hurricane and do some damage.  I'm not a shotgun person, so I am not one to give advice on those weapons.

Welcome.  I'm on PC, so we won't be playing together, but hope you continue to have a lot of fun.

Edit add from Dmath2 (I copied his advice below from another post):

Help with objectives, revive team-mates, stick with your team. Don't worry about your score, and have fun in bronze while you get a feel for the maps and which characters/weapons/powers you like using. Step up to silver when bronze feels easy.

Although it can be boring, it makes sense to buy recruit packs to level your basic weapons, then veterans to max the uncommon stuff. You can mix it up with the odd specter or premium pack early on but it'll take ages to get stuff levelled up if you go for the big packs exclusively.

One weapon is usually better than two for characters that rely on powers - the faster your cooldown, the better.

Use piercing mods and extended barrels on everything, pretty much.

Defending the LZ on wave 11 is easy on bronze, on higher difficulties it's often a deathtrap. Get used to holding a distance away from the LZ then dashing back to extract with 20 seconds or so left on the clock.

Play with friends if you can!

Don't melee Phantoms unless you're a Krogan Battlemaster. And if you can see one, there's probably another lurking close by, ready to give you a good stabbing.

Camping in the middle of Firebase Rio is often a good way to get overrun.

Engineers are great. Having a drone or turret is like having a portable wingman.

All of the above is just my opinion. Just get stuck in, really!

If you're still dying too often, try pairing up with a squadmate and hang back a bit. This way you're less likely to be targetted, and you can also observe your teammates to see what they're doing. If you're playing a supporting class like Human Engineer this also helps you prioritize your targets. Say, if your teammate is attacking a Marauder, you can concentrate on him and use overload to rip his shields.

I paired up with a sniper infiltrator once, with my Asari adept. I'd stasis anything in the open, as fast as he could headshot with the widow. We cleaned house on that half of the map.

Sounds like you're getting it! That's good to hear.

Some quick things that have helped me:
- BongMong's right. Ignore people telling you this or that isn't any good. They're usually wrong. The best build is the one that fits your play style best. That said, always check to make sure your build is working. Using a Javelin I on an Asari Adept is quirky, but it's working against itself.
- Don't be afraid to stay at medium range and use the accuracy bonuses from cover. Lag can often ruin melee and out-of-cover play styles. For most classes, there's also not much difference between attacking at melee range, and firing from cover a short distance off.
- With the Shadow, your basic melee attacks are faster than Shadow Strike and Electric Slash. Combine the powers of your choice with melee combos and you'll have a fairly easy time racking up kills. Just remember that getting out of dodge is often more important than securing the kill.
- Damage Over Time effects are your friend. They let you strike quickly and continue to hurt the enemy from cover. Arc Grenades, any fire effect, and the electrical damage from Shadow Strike are all great for this. Remember that each new source for DOT stacks, and spam them like crazy.
- Pay attention to which powers ignore cover. With Proximity Mine and Arc Grenades, you can just fire them in the general area of the enemy and hit them.

Just figure out the level of aggression most comfortable for you, play with your powers, and use the guns that you like best.
