So according to the game and the DA wiki demons can cross over to the mortal world where the veil is thin and pretty much actually be physical. Even if for a limited time, even if it's hard, even if it's rare, they actually can be physical, and we fought a few demons in the real world throught out the game.
My questions are - where do they get their physical form from? What is it formed from? The guess is it is via creation spells, which actually can create matter from fade energies. But more importanly, how is their form decided? They can be pretty much anyhting in the fade, so they don't REALLY have a TRUE form, they can appear as what ever. Or do they decide when they cross the veil? Do they decide on the amount of power available to them as to how great their physical form will be? How do they go on about cosmetics of their bodies?

I think demons decide their form by looking into the dreams of people, and seeing what they think a demon should look like.

But we have seen a Desire Demon in the shape of a cat. I think they can take whatever form they like. Perhaps the different forms are not really physical, but an illusion created by the demon.

Techniqually I'm fairly sure all the natural denizens of the fade are formless, but they gained/created the basic demon and spirit forms when the fade came in contact with the physical plane and they leached off information on the physical plane from the dreams of living beings.

No, that was kind of the impression I got. Child would be frightened of demonic naked chick with glowy fire hair, horns and freaky eyes. Either Wilhelm used the family pet to summon the demon into it (and once possessed it ceased to age), or she assumed a less scary, more innocent seeming form to tempt and entrance the child. Certainly she shifts her form when you attack her, either possessing the child or just shifting to her demonic self.
