First of all I'm sorry that the title makes no sense but this really needs a full exlpanation for it to do that sense making bit.
Sooo anyway I formatted my computer a few days ago and, not wanting to lose my DAO, I copied all my saves and DLC to my external harddrive so I wouldn't lose it. Formatting happens, re-install happens, copying everything back into place happens. Today I finally get some time to play again, I start the game and hit resume only to recieve a messgae stating that this save game contains Bioware premium content and in order to load it an authorised user must be logged on.
Now, my gaming pc is never almost never connected to the internet unless ot has to be so I figure sure I'll just log on and everything will be peachy. Well it ain't. I'm logged on with the same profile I used to get the content in the first place and I just get the same message. This makes me sad.
Finally, my question: is there anyway at all for me to get my DLC games working again besides re-installing (again) and re-downloading the DLC? I'd really rather not waste the cap downloading something I already have even if it isn't that much.
"Unauthorised" profile access to DLC?

Check that the Dragon Age Content Updater Service is running. Go to the list of Services in Windows (start menu, run services.msc) and look for Dragon Age on the list and start/restart.
If there's an error, or the service is missing there are troubleshooting tips in the DLC Troubleshooting sticky, section 3.

had the same problem. by not logging into your account i was able to at least resume playing. for a solution, look at the dcl faq thread, you need to clear the cache and unfortunately download everythhing all over again. such a shame that you have to go through all this **** for playing something you actually payed for.

Thanks for the assist Kepha, but that service was missing and the DLC troubleshooting didn't apply to me.
However, after re-installing the game, again, I took another look at the services list on a hopeful whim and discovered that, by the Maker's breath, the DAO update service you spoke of decided it now wanted to exist and I've managed to get everything back to normal.
This certainly was an odd experience. I guess it all depends on your influence with your DAO disk >.>

Someone tell me that this isn't true. All I want is to download the stuff I've paid for & back it up to avoid the need to download it again when my PC next has problems.
