I received the 3 released Play Arts Kai figures today. I would have posted pictures, but I wasn't happy with the pictures my cell phone took. I'll try to borrow a real camera and see if I can get some better shots.
My first impression of the figures is that the paintaing doesn't quite look like the box sample pictures or online pictures. When I first saw MShep's head, I thought it was UndeadShep due to the paleness of the head and the dark circles under the eyes. Ashley's head also looks slightly off, specifically the hair bangs. However, Garrus still looks like he took a rocket to the face. To give kudos where it is due, the MShep armor looks to be nicely textured and compares very well to the box art armor.
I only opened Garrus's package --- I'm not sure if I'm going to open the others or keep them mint --- since a co-worker of mine has the Big Fish version. I'm definately going to try to take a side-by-side picture. The Play Arts Garrus is about 8" / 20cm tall, so he appears fairly impossing.
Once I had Garrus unwrapped, the first thing that I noticed is that getting to pose standing up straight is "difficult" to say the least. His feet appear to have no heels, so he has to be balanced on the ball of his feet. I had him standing straight a few times, but it wouldn't take long for him to tip over.
One thing that I liked about Garrus (and the others) is that the weapons that come with them are instantly recognizable and are very well done. I didn't have too much difficult in getting Garrus to carry his Vindicator in a "battle ready" posture.
One thing that surprised me was the total lack of a Bioware code in the package --- there is no way to register on this web site that you've actually purchased these toys. Considering that the Dark Horse miniatures, Kotobukiya statue, and Big Fish toys all had these codes, it had me wondering if these were properly licensed toys.
Bearing in mind that I pre-ordered these as soon as they were announced, and was eargerly anticipating them, I have to say that if I had to do it over again, I'd probably pass on these. These figures simply cost too much given their quality. Maybe my expectactions where too high --- the Liara statue cost just about the same as one of these figures and the quality of that statue beggars these action figures --- but my advice is for ME fans is to skip and look at other collectibles instead.

(Note: Maybe I really like my Liara because Ali Hillis was kind enough to autograph it
