I like the store. But I have been playing this since day one. Imagine being a completely new player, and realizing how long it would take to unlock the amount of content in this game. And now we're getting another DLC and more content is added to that already huge pool. A DLC pack I suspect might grab the attention of old players that have moved on and new players that are curious.
Now I know that some of you that just like me have been putting in a lot of work to unlock all the stuff in this game, might think it is a bad idea to give new players a lot of stuff. You might think it unjust. But it is in your interest if you want this game to be supported as long as possible. In my opinion new players should get a starter pack consisting of a number of character cards, weapons and even an UR or two. An improved starter pack, much better than the current one.
That would defeat the purpose of making money from packs, one can argue. Well, no one will buy packs with real money if they aren't playing the game. No one will buy packs with real money when they realize just how much money it would take to unlock it all. A starter pack full of stuff to try out could help holding on to the attention of the new players, long enough for them to find out how awesome it is. Then they might consider spending a few dollars on it.
Think about the amount of characters, weapons and gear that's in this game right now. Add to that more stuff from the next DLC. Now picture yourself entering multiplayer for the first time and realizing this. It will surely put a lot of players off.
Is a starter pack full of stuff enough? Perhaps not, but it's better than a starter pack that will give you a Katana and a Locust if you're lucky. I say give them a bunch of gold cards and an UR on top of a number of commons and uncommons. Let them get a sniff of that Salarian Infiltrator, put a Claymore in their hands. They might be intrigued.
