+1 Sounds good to me. My roommate bought the game a few weeks ago and is complaining about how long it will take to get the URs (thanks for all that L4 ammo, Bioware).

Hahahahaha, I played the game for 5 months, well took a little time off with Skyrim in between, but good luck getting Ultra Rare anytime soon.

I haven't max out one Ultra Rare, and I played alot.

I think new players are already benefiting from things like Gears, new guns from Rebellion and Earth DLCs, new characters that wasn't there before at launch. All these things they get from the get go that I and many people didn't have when we started out.

Isn't that enough? Imagine unlocking a N7 Destroyer at low N7 level now. It's a major boost up from anything us launch guys used to have.  And Platinum too, the chance to get 13k credit in a 25-30 minutes run, we didn't have that.

It also took a month and half just to complete Earth DLC's Gears, mahahaha! It's one horror story after another.

When people complained about uncommon Gears drop rate, they sure wasn't kidding!

Man, I do wonder though, with all these new items to unlock, the chance to max anything out would be alot harder for new players.  That's a shame.  Maxing things out really helps on higher level play.

Yeah, I'm seeing N7800-1000s guys still not getting their weapon to X nowadays.

Maybe not URs but definitely a fair few rare weapons with a small taste of capacity upgrades, rare gear and rare mods.

I think it'd be more effective for them to utilize that idea that's been passed around about adding bonus credits for unknown/unkown the same way they do experience. It would eliminate camping for the majority and allow easier credit gathering for purchases. Everyone would be happy. Giving the new players a bonus pack full of rares would likely ****** off a lot of people who spent a lot of time playing, but not camping, and still don't have all the rares or ur unlocked.

Glad to see that this thread is still alive and kicking. More love for the noobs.

Again, we are not likely to see a complete overhaul of the system, and keep in mind that I'm talking about an improved starter pack with a few gold cards in it, nothing more than that. Think about the insame amount of content a new player has to unlock should he or she start playing today. It can be discouraging for sure. For their sake, and for ours, it would be a good idea to give them a decent booster pack, to ensure that they stay intrigued and don't leave before they get to see what the game has to offer.

Enticing new players would be nice. I like the new guys. They remind me that this game is still worth playing... despite it being fun anyway.

Sorry, but newbies already have it good. They tag onto gold matches and get lots of xp and credits which means that they forego the motions of getting good on bronze, jumping up to silver and so on. Back in March, we couldn't do that.

I'm in favor of this. I started playing MP mid July. I remember waiting in bronze lobbies excited looking at N7 ratings higher than 500. That excitment went kaboom as I found my self just running around the map, not getting to kill almost anything.
I also remember bronze lobbies with low N7 ratings like mine. Results : wipe. wipe. wipe. lol
I found the game hard and considered quitting as soon as I found out how the store works.
If I hadn't a friend of mine carry and babysit me until I got to grips with the game, I would have quit.

Now, two months later, I keep reading threads about decaying playerbase. I really really enjoy this game, and I want it to last as long as possible. So, Killahead's idea is a great idea.
When I start a character from level 1, I always play bronze, because I don't want to mess other peoples games, I see newcomers. Lots of them, and I want them to keep playing as long as possible.

+1 from me.

We should have a monthly pack that contains 5 rares, with a 50% chance for each to be an ultra rare for playing. That would be an incentive.

I like to go into Bronze matches and be a target so the low level players never get downed. It's really fun seeing +10 waves survived and almost never firing my gun except to play bodyguard. Posted Image

Sure. But only if they give everyone one of these packs and make them last forever to be claimed (unlike victory and commendation packs).

This is a good idea. Give them 2-3 commons at level 10 and 4-5 pieces of Gear.

Hmm a monthly pack, with a 50% chance for an Ultra rare...interesting. Course with my luck and Ultra Rares...I might see a Platinum item twice a year. The rest of the time will be: A) Pointless junk I already have. B) Pointless junk I don't need. C) Occasional upgrades to Gear Bonuses. D) Random Character Training.

I'd support this, provided the newbies don't think that that one UR and a couple rare level 1's means they're ready to jump into gold. I saw an n7 7 in gold yesterday with a katana and avenger 1. Don't think he understood why people kept jumping out of the lobby immediately.

But getting at least one half-decent weapon and character would help a lot when starting. I didn't start MP until the beginning of June, I think, and it was a tough road to hoe starting off.

Some decent uncommons to full level and some rares to 2-3 levels, along with some weapon mods and gear. They should just get enough to be effective in silver/gold and then they will learn the ropes.

I was actually just thinking the other day how I'd feel if i had to start MP all over again, how frustrating it would be to see all these weapons and characters around me and be no where near to unlocking them.

I fully support this.

Real world money...there is your easy solution. You head it here kids...go bug your parents endlessly for MS point cards, just to pointlessly spend them on Spectre/Premium Spectre Packs. Heck, when ever I have an extra $20 in my pay that I don't need to put anywhere else, it goes into ME3 packs.

Not sure if you are joking or not, since you are a reasonable guy from what I know, hehe, but I know that many will feel that way about this. But it's not like they'll get multiple URs in this pack. Perhaps one UR and ten gold cards or something like that. Like I said, I think it is in everyones' interest.

Sure, so long as you throw all of us that same bone.
