I finally got around to playing with both the game mouse settings and my mouse software settings, and I'm not sure what the best way to roll is. My mouse is set to recognize ME3 with a preset of 1800 dpi. In the game mouse options (in MP), I turned down sensitivity to 30 (from the default 50). The mouse is still a little wild at 30, so I'm probably going to keep turning it down until I hit a good spot. What I'm curious about is what turning mouse dampening off would do (in the game mouse options). I hesitate to turn it off and find out that it makes playing impossible after already starting a match. Anyone?

You could probably use a "softer" mouse pad (either a cloth one or a somewhat more fancy one that costs more). That should ease the sensitivity and allow for better aiming. Mouse dampening/smoothing is basically like "speed sensitive" steering in a car. It helps if you like to play sniper builds because you can move your mouse slowly and have that precision aim or move it faster if you need to hit a moving target. Turning off that option would probably make things worse unless you're used to moving a mouse no more than halfway across the mouse pad (if your sensitivity settings are high enough).

Thanks for the input. I like my mousing surface too much to change it, so I'll continue playing with dpi and sensitivity settings - and leave dampening on ;)

It's a fine balance, because sometimes I like the speedy mouse action while running and gunning - it's one of the things that makes PC better than console controllers, but sometimes that sensitivity level makes other things feel a little too erratic.
