Just curious if you guys keep him in the squad, or if you put him in
both the leader roles and setup the hold the line cutscene so he talks,
or whereever else he could be.
Which is cooler to you? Thinking of doing two playthroughs, one of all the cutscenes and one with him in my squad.
Garrus Bro/Romancers....What roles do you assign him in Suicide Mission?

Garrus/Miranda is my main squad throughout the game.
The initial part is Garrus/Miranda with me...while Tali/Jacob take the tech/fire squad duties.
Then Garrus leads the "diversion" team for the long walk.
During the final battle Garrus stays back to hold the line.

Generally give him at least one fire leader position (sometimes both), and leave him on the line. I have taken him on the long walk before, but usually I have Thane/Samara, Thane/Jack, or Thane/Legion for my team. I just think of him more in the leader/hold the line role for the SM. But hey, just my personal preference, and nothing more.

Although he is in my squad during nearly every other mission in the game, I make him a fire team leader on the SM every time though.

leader. Always. He's wise enough as a warrior with enough experience to keep them alive. I only take him on that last part against that stupid human reaper because I want a serious gunner.

Garrus has the experience to Lead. So I let him do his thing. Miranda is good as a lead on round two. I usually leave Garrus for the hold the back door fire fight. Sometimes I bring Miranda with me to face boss human Reaper, and Tali.

Always second fire-team leader for Garrus unless I'm being an **** and want to get someone easilly killed. I use Jacob as first fire-team leader and Miranda is generally with me for the final fight. I like to make sure everyone gets a go during the suicide mission.

I make Garrus be the fire team leader. And then when it's time to fight the human reaper, I take him with me

IIRC, he stays with my squad through the entire Suicide Mission.
In most of my games, my Sheps come to trust Miranda and know she is an excellent squad leader. Also in most of my games, my Sheps run with Garrus and Tali because she trusts them without a doubt, even though she believes in the rest of her team.
Also knowing that if I have their loyalties neither will die if I make them squad leader, so that's why I tend to use Miranda as the second team's leader.

I made him the leader of the other team both times then brought him with me to the final fight. When I wanted most of my team to die I kept him with me and assigned idiots to the job lol

Garrus is always the fire team leader, no matter what, and I always send Mordin with the "crew" aka the doctor C, etc. to the ship.

Garrus Vakarian is always the Fire Team Leader in my play-trhoughs. (Take that, Miranda Lawson!)
But on my recent play-through where I was trying to get as many people killed as possible, except for Zaeed Massani and Kasumi Goto, Garrus was taken away by seeker swarms.

Instead of choosing Garrus for my final confrontation against the Human Reaper, I chose Legion.
It is quite symbolic to observe a Geth and a Krogan (Grunt) follow my Soldier Shepard in the penultimate battle of the game; a bit of personal foreshadowing since the Krogan and Geth contibuted significantly in the Reaper invasion alongside the Humans and Turians ofcourse.
And ofcourse Garrus was the leader in all of the SM missions , portraying the Turians role as a trustworthy ally when it matters most. It also was the moment Garrus could'e be seen as an able leader as Shepard if the whole defending squad survives.

He's with me on both the infiltration of the base and the Long Walk, but I leave him behind to HTL, and take two other squad members with me.

He is the leader all the time, one time I assigned Jacob and once I assigned Miranda for the role.I don't trust both of them but I wanted to take Garrus with me.
When Garrus isn't leading the squad, he is with me. He can only take orders from me, nobody else and he is the only one who can replace me for leadership.
I take Legion with me generally other than the tube part.

He's a guy I forget about. I don't put him in charge, and I don't hold him on my team. He's an extra.

If I'm doing a playthrough that I won't carry into ME3 I will let him live otherwise the majority of the time he gets killed. I would usually let him lead the fire team or escort the crew back to the Normandy

I like Garrus, but not as much in ME3 (Walters wrote him better. Dombrow plays up too much bro fanservice. Garrus was better keeping to himself and calibrating). So now I like him dying on the second fire team lead. He's got a cool line anyways. "Snipe one for me.."

Most of the time garrus is in charge of the fire team. Normally have Miranda in charge of the diversion team. I almost always bring tali and grunt along for the entire mission.
Just about to do SM again right now. This time I've got Garrus and tali. Want to try out AP ammo against that ginormous homunculus. I always end up having ammo issues in that fight. Hoping AP will help alleviate my ammo woes.
:edit: hmm...didn't really make a difference.
