May I ask bioware or any EA member which is the reason why ME1 pc retail version owners cannot get the Origin version for free?

I don't understand it. The keys are valid, and our game is registered in the old bioware website.

I know it isn't that expensive but honestly, I don't want to pay again for a game I already have...

Probably same reason you can't buy DLCs through origin.

Probably because Origin is rubbish. Or an evil machine made by the Ori (Stargate, anyone?).

I have the retail version, and was able to call EA/Origin, and they added it to my Origin library. For free. Try calling them.

^ That's good advice, EA Support can be either completely useless or amazingly friendly and helpful, it's a real gamble but with good chances. I'd recommend the livechat, keep trying until you find someone who helps you. And read this thread http://www.neogaf.co...ad.php?t=487344 , you'll howl laughing (I certainly did).

Wow, that is nice. I will try to contact them.

Yeah I don't like the idea of origin but having your savegames in a cloud is the only reason I want this. I recently lost all my data from my hdd so I would like to avoid that to happen again ;)

If this is the only reason then maybe you could consider keeping your savegames on a USB data stick? :D Much simpler and less fuss. I certainly wouldn't use Origin if I didn't have to in order to play the game.

Actually, now that I've sold my copy of ME3, this bloody EA Spyware is well gone from my HDD and never to return. Seriously, I'm done with buying games which require Origin, based on this one example I've had, they tend to suck anyway :D .

Origin also let me add my retail copy of DA: Origins, the retail awakening expansion, and my Steam copy of DA2. I don't mind Origin because I just turn it off in the system tray once i'm done playing a game through it. It's convenient when, like me, you upgrade/reformat your computer. Plus, the stupid 5 limit activation is gone on ME1 when added through Origin, since it's tied to the digital service. And I no longer need my discs for ME2 (which I also added from retail copy) or DA.
