I would choose "The Witcher 2" for Xbox360, really epic game. I only had some issues with the map (horrible thing) but overall it was a wonderful experience.
If TW2 doesn't count for being out on 2011 for PC, then I'd choose Prototype 2. It was the most fun game I've played in years...and I'm still a sad panda over Radical Entertainment's death (being reduced to a little "support team" for other Activision's titles and without being able to make their own games anymore).
Which is your favorite game of the year so far?

The only games I've played so far from 2012 are Mass Effect 3, Lollipop Chainsaw, The Amazing Spiderman, and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance. So, definitely Mass Effect 3 out of those.

Just by playing the demo I can tell I'd love Sleeping Dogs. Other than that I haven't really played much this year yet.

So far all the games I've played that came out in 2012 have been lackluster or crap. Here's hoping the games I'm getting in November and October don't run the same trend.
And those titles being
Lego Lord of the Rings (wut? >>)
Black Ops 2
and
Halo 4.
Looks like some great games next yeah, praticularly MGS GZ

Civilization V - Gods & Kings
I was afraid I wouldn't play anything better than ME3 this year! Still no better RPG (Don't worry I shall vote for one of indie RPGs I won't play soon enough!)
Surely there will be interesting games releasing in next two months.

lol - I've bought a handful of games released this year, but haven't gotten around to playing them yet. My favorite that I've never played before this year is probably Trine 2 or Bastion.

I really haven't played much of anything. The new Spiderman and ME3 is pretty much it.

I've only bought like 2 games from this year. So I guess Mass Effect 3.

Games that were released this year? I would have to say Dragon's Dogma. It leaves something to be desired, but it does have some excellent redeeming features. That is, the day to night (it looks realistic), the nighttime (it's actually dark, to the point where you can't see what you're doing without a lamp), the character creation is far better than in any other game, ever, and the combat is flexible and very easy to use.
My main character, my Magick Archer is a total babe, not to mention she looks sick (the good kind of sick), with her scar across her left eye, and her hair dangling in front of her right (her one good) eye. She's got a very callous and stern expression too; it's like she couldn't give a crap about what you think of her. Playing through it a second time, it's like her dyed hair colour from the previous playthrough is her natural hair now.
That said, DD is the only new game I've gotten this year, and the only one released this year.
Edit: Did Pokemon Black and White come out this year? I cannot remember. I got White, and I've played it almost 600 hours, which is a lot for me. Either way, I prefer Dragon's Dogma.

ME3 so far, turned out to be my favorite out of all three Mass Effect games.
Really looking forward to Dishonored as well.

None yet, I've only played ME3 so far and that was less than spectacular in every possible aspect. This year is not a good one for me at least with games it isn't, I might get Hitman Absolution depending on how well it does, at least Bateson is back.
I'll probably get Halo 4 as well but the day that a Halo game gets to be my favorite game of the year is the day when there was nothing particularly good that year. Don't really know what else there is to buy, don't like borderlands, I don't buy UBISOFT games so I won't get any of the games they might have in store, I really doubt Heart of the Swarm will come out sometime soon and the only other thing I'm looking forward to is Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Knowing Blizzard, we'll probably have long beards and cobwebs (with spiders) by the time heart of the Swarm comes out.

If its taken this long for Heart of The Swarm to come out, I don't even want to think how much its going to take for Legacy of the Void and that hasn't even been advertised yet.

The best games I've played this year are not 2012's (wich was a pretty meh year in terms of games, imho): I played DX:HR last month and I loved every second of it (except the boss fights).
