ME3 and Dragon's Dogma. D-dogma was a surprise really, I mainly got it because of the RE6 demo that was included. Turned out to be pretty awesome though.
I downloaded the demo with the character creator for that the other day and I love how extensive it is. I wish Mass Effect had a character creator that good.

I won't go into ME3 but KoA had way too much quest fodder to retain any sense of urgency in the story (sometimes I even forgot where in the main quest I was, I spent so long running errands) and there were perhaps 3 times in the whole game I felt I had any agency over how to solve quests.
The Secret World is pretty good; I like the ability wheel a lot for all the freedom it gives, and some of the investigation missions are really good, they can be massively rewarding to figure out properly (makes you realize how forgiving puzzles can be in other games and how rarely you really have to think).
That said the combat is repetitive, and it takes so long to farm the ability points to make a new deck to change things up it makes the problem worse. Also, no quests aside from the main story have a hand-in, once you finish the quest objectives you basically just get a debrief text from your faction and that's it, which makes it pretty difficult to get invested after a while. Given how few quests you can have at once I get why having to hand them all in would be a pain but it seems like a waste of some great characters not to offer more resolution.
Also, whoever decided there should be quest objectives you have to die (and ghost walk) to get to is a jerk. Seriously, cut that stuff out!
So yeah, not a great year so far.

Binary Domain also touches the topic about human and robots but grapple with some Blade Runner-esque philosphical issues which is also a nice touch compare to what mass effect 3 did.
Spec ops the line delivered a short but nice story about a "Mordin" like character (I mean a tragic hero type character) which is quite unusual in the shooter games these days.

Call of duty: Modern warfare 3
It was good but it didn't have as many memorable moments as they first two games did.
ME3 was just too much of a disappointment for me even after the Extended Cut, so I'd have to go with Max Payne 3.

So I guess then Dishonored will win by default when it comes out.

ME3
Final Fantasy XIII-2
Dragon's Dogma
Journey
I'm gonna pick up"
Hao 4
Black Ops 2
So far XIII-2 is my favorite game of the year followed by Journey. BlOps definitely won't change that, and Halo probably won't either.

Binary Domain handled the whole synthetic/organic theme a lot better than ME3, and Spec Ops handled PTSD much better.suntzuxi wrote...

Both also had much better endings, but that probably goes without saying.
