 Hi all.

Today I went back and played MS1 and finished it, yeah I know people are waiting for MS3 expanison.

It took me too long and I have no intention of doing it again. looking forward to play MS2.

I just had one wish, to romance ashley, to take this into MS2, I played paragon and I have reach full paragon with just one block of renegade and I made sure to be always paragon with ashley and still she never wanted to talk.

I have a save where I visit liara in the medical section and she asks me about my relation with Ashley, I tried playing it again and say yes I have a special relation and I want to be friends only with her (Liara) but Ahsley still refuse to talk, as I said before I was paragon in everything so what did I do wrong and when ?

I search the forum and google but I can't understand why for me it is so hard while others say that they ignore her ans still come after them.

Why? I just don't want to play MS2 with a relation with Liara, after doing the realtion I thought it was stupid, not romantic. :alien:

By the way what effect does this have on MS2 on both cases?

I'm surprised you weren't able to find any information about it on these forums, because it's been discussed quite a bit. There are a few conversations where you can "break up" with Ash without realizing it. The first one, and it sounds like this was the way it happened to you, is shortly after you recruit Liara: Ash will make a comment about you being interested in our "new blue friend" (or something like that), and the paragon response is, "Who, Liara?" Unfortunately Ash interprets that answer as an admission of your romantic feelings for Liara, and that's the end of any romance you could have had with Ash. The only way to continue pursuing Ashley is to give the renegade answer, "None of your business."

Hi Burning blood,

What I read was contradicting, one of the things I read is to be paragon all the time and I did that because I wanted to be paragon, then I read someone speaking about the chat with Liara before the final mission as a breaking point without mentioning older conversations so I thought I still had hope as I don't want to repeat this game, also many people said it was so easy but how could that be easy? I should be rude to her to win her, how can I go about the other conversations with her? be renegade with her all the time ?

Believe me it is not that clear.

Thank you for replying.

That's untrue.

I have never once used the "None of your business" answer...and I have romanced Ashley in ME1 everytime.

Exactly right.  The whole "you have to take the renegade response" was repeated several times on the forum, and I personally disproved it.

There are a couple of issues.  If you do not tell Liara that "Ash is special" then that automatically cancel's Ash's romance.

The other interesting thing is that the dialogue can progress from doing side missions.  What this means is that you can accidentally go into the conversation where Liara talks about Asari reproduction / mating that is only supposed to happen after you lock her in (if you were romancing them both, after choosing her at the confrontation scene).  The confrontation only occurs after a main story mission.

OK I did tell Liara that Ash is special and went directly to Ash and nothing but that is too late in the game ,I had only a final mission after that and I think there was no in the ship scenes...?

I did all side missions except one.

So it is easy to romance Ashly but it is impossible to tell what lines are necessary to do it as there are countless scenarios...

So I should quit this goal and start clean in ME2? anything worth keeping from ME1 beside characters and who died and who didn't?

No I wouldn't say it is easy to romance Ash... I did it my first playthrough, but her romance in ME1 is one of the easiest to "sabotage" in the whole series.

There are multiple points to screw it up, I didn't list them comprehensibly.

Right after Eden Prime you talk to her, and if you are nice then that helps. If you aren't you can shut the door on that romance.

When you talk to her and she brings up that she isn't comfortable with aliens on the ship, if you say "You're out of line" that ends any possibility of a relationship as well.

Have you gone back to the Citadel after doing the 4 main story planets (Therum, Feros, Noveria, Virmire)? If so your locked in LI will show up after a scene there. Where are you at exactly?

When you talk to Ash and say goodbye, what does she call you? "Skipper" or "Sir?"

So Liara met you at your locker after they locked down the ship?

If Ash was calling you Sir then the point right when she changed from Skipper to Sir was where you ended the relationship.

Oh,, yes Liara is the one that was standing next to me when Shepard was setting on the ground next to the lockers.

No, I mean I went back and talked to her, in one conversation she says all that, she says skipper in many lines but the conversation ended with Sir, you know, Capt.:"Goodbye" Ash:"sir"

Yeah. It is only the last thing she says when you end the conversation that has relevance. If it is skipper you are on the romance path, but if she goes back to saying sir then it has been sabotaged. If you remember the point at which that happened you can figure out what happened.

Usually on the romance path Shepard will say "We'll talk later Williams." and she says "Looking forward to it Skipper."

Sorry for the late reply,

it's simple and complicated at the same time. I have been paragon all the time from very early so I don't even know how to fix it if I find it. I guess I will start clean in ME2. I don't know yet what I will lose from ME1 but I will search that.

Thanks capn233, everyone.

For me Ash is a paragon trap, just being nice to her ends up in the big bang practice with totally no escape, therefore I'm thankful to anyone who might come with a reliable solution to sabotage that romance, without resorting to nuclear measures.
