The proficiency with assault rifles isn't a power, rather a feat. Some classes already come with that proficiency. Those that don't can still select that proficiency when they gain a feat. In the end, any character can use any weapon

That's pretty cool.

The game was made so that a character is limited to a class but can still take steps to gain powers and weapon/armor proficiencies that other classes have, allowing you to create just about any combination found both in the Single Player and the Multiplayer versions of Mass Effect.
Aside from those limitations, you can play with any race (except Yagh or Hanar, for canon reasons) and be of any class. The game also includes all enemies from ME1 to ME3 (except Thorian Creepers) and rules for both ground and space vehicles/ships, as well as combat with them.
It does not include, however, some aspects used in the multiplayer. Certain powers are not used (because they are powers that make others completely irrelevant) or were turned into modifications for non-multiplayer powers (like Snap Freeze being a power mod for Cryo Blast, for example). Of all enemies, only the multiplayer collector enemies weren't fully adapted (namely the possession versions of scions and preatorians) and the 'awakened collectors' weren't adapted either (for reasons that seem silly for some and quite logical for others)

The game looks amazing.

Trouble is, (like with any pen and paper style RPG) is that it is really hard to find any group that does that sort of thing.

Not only that, but the chances are that Pen and Paper groups tend to do Shadow Run, The Call of the Cthulhu and Dungeons & Dragons.

Finding a specific Pen & Paper group that is willing to give Mass Effect a try is tricky at best.

Also so much of this medium hinges on both the players and the game master being creative and spontaneous.

Shame RPG groups are hard to find.

I know what you mean. Took me months to get a group together to play. Nowadays I already have around 10 people who wish to try the game but it seems I lack the time to play with them.

In any case, try looking for groups of people in your town that play boardgames. Those communities, even if small, are a good place to find people interested in new games, even if they never heard of Mass Effect and/or d20 system. Half of the people I found didn't know one or even both but learned quickly and loved the game session ;)

After nearly 3 years of work, I'm finally able to hold in my hand an hardcover, full-colored, copy of my Mass effect d20 game.

As previously stated, this work is meant to convert the ME computer games into a pen&papper RPG d20 system, so that anyone can play in the Mass Effect universe in anyway they desire.
There were, of course, some significant changes in the d20 system in order to ensure the game has the same 'feeling' as the computer games. Another major concern was to guarantee a 'fast gaming pace', similar to that of the games - something the standard d20 rules do not allow - a goal that many assure it was achieved.

A dozen people contributed significantly to this work, with ideas that were incorporated, and dozens of others contributed with critics, discussing rules, and even testing. Hundreds have already seen this game, many tested it and many others are using it to play with their friends. Among the contributors there were two professional designers, Tommy Rayburn and Benjamin Slack, who created and shaped the layout of the manual and gave this game a professional look which is in line with the sci-fi and color theme of the Mass Effect franchise.

The game is purely a fan creation and completely free to anyone who wants to see it or use it.
