Congratulations and happy birthday.
One year closer to grey hairs and one year more fun you had to compensate for it.

I can't believe I am going to be 18 in a while...
It feels like just the other day I was sitting at home playing video games all day... oh wait...

I'm 25 from SoCal and got introduced to mass effect through the demo... new to EA actually besides Battlefield 3... thats also my first for the series as well...
Did you play ME1 yet?
If not, let everything rest (well, maybe play your current SP playthough to the end), then get ME1, play ME1 at least two times (one full Paragon and one full Renegade (for the Renegade, wait to recruit Liara as the last primary mission!!!! So much fun!!!!)), then play ME2 (all story DLCs included of course!) and then import those Shepards into ME3 for some more fun.
You will not regret it (though beware of muscle memory from ME3->ME1 and ME1->ME2).

Wait, what? What happens? I've always picked her up first.

It's really funny. Not gonna spoil it too much for ya, I'll just say she goes crazy.

If you like Battlefield 3 and you have a semi-decent PC you should try out Battlefield 1942!
My favorite game of all time, and it was before EA was the essence of evil.

And no, I don't scream insults down the mic or anything.
I'm also not going to say I'm mature, because that's for other people to decide, not me.

Indeed, I really don't want to spoil it, because it is absolutely hilarious. One of the better iterations of "the developers think of everything" I have come across. Just spare her unitl you did Feros/Noveria and the next coming up mainquest that I won't spoil either because the latter one is THE most awesome quest in the whole damn franchise (this line is obviously not for Rifneno as he knows the quest already, but for the people in here that haven't played ME1 yet)!
And going crazy is really all you should know without spoiling the fun. Playing a Renegade Shepard in that particular encounter makes it ohh sooooo much more fun too!
