I just tried loading NWN Complete on my new computer. I have a Dell M5030 Laptop w/Windows 7, a 230GHz dual-core processor, 4 GHz of RAM and a 64-bit processor which seems to be the problem. 

I went through the setup process and then when I tried to install the game I got an error message indicating the game does not work w/a 64-bit processor. 

Needless to say, I'm sick.  Is there anything I can do?  I don't know much about computers but I thought 64-bit was plenty - not even sure there is a 128-bit but I'm certainly not sure. 

The computer runs Baldurs Gate Tutu, Baldurs Gate II and TOB with ease so I thought NWN would work too.

Help???

To clarify, since that package includes both, NWN1 or NWN2?

NWN2, it should just work and not give any errors.

Thanks Kamal_. Still not having any luck but I'm not the sharpest knife on the drawer when it comes to this stuff.

Funny though, I checked my C: drive and all the setup folders are there for both NWN1 and NWN2.

I note from one topic string that there is a 1.69 patch out there. Don't know if that'll help but when I click the link it takes me to a Bioware page. Not sure where on that page the patch is.

Anyway, still frustrated here so if you can thing of anything else that might get me playing I'd appreciate it as I did your initial response. Thank you.

For now, looks like it's back to Baldur's Gate.

1.69 is a patch for NWN1. 1.23 is the last patch for NWN2. I would have thought they'd ship NWN complete in an all patched up state.

I know that the NWN1 it's patched to 1.69, but you still have to download and apply the 1.69 patch to fix some texture problems that are shipped in the game. As Kamal suggests, there is some tinkering to be done when installing on Win 7/64 bit.


AS Far as NWN2 goes, runs great on my win 7/64 bit/quad core. Think I just had to run it with XP compatibility.

Thanks to Kamal_s original post I found the answer in a thread therein.

I had to find the file NWNMain and NWNs. I went to properties and gave the game 'full control' permissions and changed a couple of selections in the settings. e.g. 256 colors, 640x480 screen resolution and allowed it to run Windows XP SP3. Seems to be working fine although I just died, thus the reason I'm here at the forum and not still playing the game. LOL
