I didn't like the way DA2 handled romances. Not everybody in the world is a bisexual. Its not realistic. I don't think that makes me a bigot.

Well it does.

If you play as a male Hawke and wish to romance Merril, you can. Isabela, whose sexuality is a big part of her characterisation will proposition you... but Fenris doesn't. Unless you actively pursue a romance with him, his sexuality is not touched upon.

It's the same with Anders. Unless you lead him on, he doesn't make a move.

What you're basically saying is that you don't like the fact that homosexuals were given as much choice as you were... because them having this choice didn't affect you or your game in any way whatsoever.

Actually, they both come on to me without leading them on at all. Unless not being a douche counts as leading them on.

Nope. You're just making things up now. Probably in a futile attempt to hide what a bigot you are.

Fenris makes a remark in his mansion that Hawke can react to as though it were a pick up line, but if he doesn't the conversation flows as if it wasn't Fenris' intent.

BioWare were clever with this aspect of the dialogue in DAII.

If both Fenris and Anders came onto you, it is because you wanted them to. Many homophobes are secretly gay themselves.

Bisexual people tend to like both women and men. Him making a handful of comments about women isn't the compelling evidence of him being strictly heterosexual as you seem to think it is.

It is also not evidence that he is Bi...it is quite to the contrary...

I'm not claiming that it is evidence of anything. Unless he refused a male advance, or made a comment stating that he wasn't into men, all his comments professing a liking for women meant just that.

Liking women doesn't automatically exclude you from liking men. Bisexual people exist.

Allow me to extract one point from my opening paragraph then:

You
accused dismissed other peoples' explanations of the change in Tali's
tone as headcanon. Do you have in game evidence to show a discrepancy
between Tali's development and any other Quarian?

More
importantly, you headcanoned that the reason for Tali's maturity in the
two years since her pilgrimage (rite of passage) during the events of
ME1 as being motivated by some sexual deviants that Bioware felt
compelled to cater to.

There were also several points where you
(purposefully or not) argued based on false information. Without going
back through the thread, you argued against someone that mentioned that
Quarians are sent out into the world on their own and used a Homeworlds
comic as evidence. It has been established explicitly (ME1 and a few
times in Retribution) and implicitly (Lia Vael, Veetor, Retribution and
more) that Quarians are indeed sent out on/make their pilgrimage on
their own.

A minor mistake, to be sure, but not for someone that
repeatedly claims to be more intelligent and perceptive than this or
that group.

You:

"I actually made no such argument.

I
just pointed out that Tali did not spend the more dangerous moments of
her pilgrimage alone. This implies that while a Quarian that comes of
age is sent out on their own, they're clever enough to seek help or band
together when things get too tough... basically meaning they know to
avoid unecessary danger.

I'll be sure to simply explain the
implications of any future comments, so that some of you can keep up. I
certainly did not claim that the Quarians do not embark on their
pilgrimages alone as you are suggesting."

Grubas wrote...

Shes not a girl.
Shes an alien. bioware can cater to anyone they want. If it was so easy
to influence bioware a lot of things, hell a lot of things would be
different.

They still havent given me an option to throw Allers out the airlock. Damit.

What
was her age originally before they changed it to 22? I didnt read it.
Keep in mind she is on her pilgrimage on her own. She can't possibly
that young anymore, if you judge her by human terms.

You:
"She
didn't start her Pilgrimage alone, she had a whole team. Saren had then
hunted down on Illium and she had to stow away on a ship to the
Citadel."

My mistake then. So you believe that she is considered old and mature enough to be sent out into a prejudiced galaxy alone but not old enough to be a consenting adult? Your only evidence is that the VA's pitch and mannerisms were different two years later. Avvording to you, this change cannot be for any other reason but the base desires of  "the scummiest of Bioware fans" (paraphrased).

Humans could not mature in this way naturally in 2 years, this is an inconsistent portrayal of Quarian biological development. (sarcasm)

Her experiences exploring the galaxy, fighting Geth, and saving the galaxy from a cycle of extinction carried out by super-advanced sentient dreadnoughts could not have made her wiser and more worldly, that would be a completely artificial development that you can see right through.

No your theory on the coercion of the writers by ephebophiles is much more realistic.

This is most odd, you're now a bigot and a homophobe and gay if you don't agree with this blacquot kid, that every character should be bisexual as he wants them to be so he  can pursue any male he wants and bed them.

It's just unrealistic not everyone is bi, especially in males.
Games take a lot values from real life and I am glad this is one they took, DA2 didn't and thankfully DA2 did terrible.

So now apartt from being more evolved or whatever than everyone else on the BSN you are also now accusig people of being homophobes based on selections of a video game. By the way from memory I used the smart arse response and there was still the option to start a romance with both of them.

Perhaps you should grow up and stop trolling.

No. I'm accusing some of being homophobic for their comically overblown reaction to the prospect of all love interests being open to all genders. Whether they want to only choose men or women doesn't matter, what matters is that they don't think homosexuals should be given as much choice as they are given, even though it needn't affect them at all.

Yes, you can instigate a relationship with both Anders and Fenris. However, as i clearly stated, they will only attempt to instigate one with you if you lead them on.

Homosexuals don't have as much choice anyway.
Most Males are straight and most females are straight, why change this just for games?
I have a great idea.

Instead of making everyone bisexual as you want, why don't we just introduce a a gay bar in every game.
This gay bar can be anywhere, homosexuals can romance the few characters that are gay they know and they can romance everyone in the gay bar.

I'd put this gay bar in with the Omega DLC.

Because they're games. It wouldn't affect your playthrough, so what does it matter?

blacqout's 'Best Of' Album of this thread:

blacqout:

:(
BioWare, ever eager to pander to the scummiest of their fans

I do wish they’d stop changing things for the worst elements within the fanbase. The misogynists got female Shepard’s hair changed from blonde to red, the idiots got the ending changed from a wonderfully symbolic closing to a by-the-numbers happy-o-thon, and the creeps got Tali changed from a bright kid to someone they could screw.

I think the fact that BioWare have a proven record of altering their games to suit portions of the fanbase with undesirable traits is significant.

i can appreciate that nobody likes to be called an idiot, and that you people are lashing out the only way you can.

Your opinion isn't very well thought-out.

I actually think that i'm glad Mass Effect is over. It had one of the worst communities, of any entertainment franchise, ever. The misogyny and idiocy that was allowed to run rampant sickens me to my stomach.

Perhaps if you were capable of comprehending what you read, and in turn understanding my post, you'd enjoy it more?

When i look at miranda, i see that, and not 'a giant arse'. It's a shame that not all are as enlightened in their perception of women as i am.

I haven't outwardly stated that i find myself superior to anyone. If it comes across that way, perhaps it's a distinct possibility that i actually am.

The problem is that BioWare are listening to the people that act... sub-humanly.

Words mean things, child.

"For my 19th birthday my dad bought me a Mercedes CLK cabriolet 500 sport instead of the porsche i wanted. And in 1996 my mother ignored my pleas to have a cesarean and ended up, as expected, giving birth to my sister on Christmas day.
Every christmas after that was essentially ruined, as i had to wait for her to open her birthday presents before i was allowed to even look at my xmas gifts." [I am assuming you were being facetious but considering some of the other things you have said, I would not be surprised if this was true].

If you hold your thumb up to your eye, is it suddenly a giant thumb? Maybe you haven't learned about perspective at school yet, but Miranda's ass isn't 'giant', no matter how close it is to the camera.

Mass Effect's fanbase is broken.

The most insulting thing in this thread are the petty 'troll' jibes. If you geniunely believe that the only way someone could feel differently to you on a subject is because they want to rile up a web community, then you may have a mental illness."
:(

Just to let everyone catch up to speed.

Well according to some people in DA2  it actually did have an impact unlike what you said.
You lied or forgot, I think you lied.

But frankly your beliefs that everyone should be is bisexual is worrying but thankfully the developers around the world know you're deluded.
And it would affect my playthroughs because my male and females characters would be able to get whatever males/females characters my females wants and whatever females my males wants.
It gives me too much choice, I want to be limited by having gay and lesiban crew too.

Those claiming that Anders and Fenris hit on Hawke without being led on are mistaken. Minus first hand knowledge yourself, and given your intellectual dishonesty, it's natural that you would pretend to believe whatever helps your case.

I suggest playing the game yourself. Bear in mind that it's possible to lead a character on without picking a 'heart' speech option. I think this may be where the confusion of your friends has arisen.

The problem with your gay bar is that it doesn't really solve anything. Some male players will find themselves attracted to Thane or Jacob. Because it's a video game - a form of entertainment and escapism - if it can be worked in a way that doesn't affect every player, they should be made open to same sex relationships.

Considering BioWare did this with Dragon Age II, your statement that developers would consider my deluded is misguided at best.

If anything it was a mistake by Bioware and one they did not try again for ME3.
One bad mistake and one bad game.

No it's not misguided, it's insightful.

They didn't do it with ME3 because it would have been too difficult, and it wouldn't have made too much sense given we'd known most of those characters for two games and they never expressed an interest. With new games and new characters, expect more of what DAII offered us.

Generally the romance aspect of DAII was praised, especially by those who believe in treating homosexuals as equals.
