The issue is that at the time of Mass Effect 1, Tali was not written as a character of 20 years. This is evident from her mannerisms and especially her voice.
People grow up, and the character is very much presented as an actual adult in ME2, but my issue is that she was re-written to appease a group within the fanbase that were disappointed they couldn't romance her in the first game.
It generally does, when you're young and it deepens dramatically within a few years.

BioWare held a poll to allow us, the fans, to choose a look for female Shepard. Do you remember? Anyway, the blonde won and that was that.
Only a group of people complained, and said some very unkind things about blonde women in the process, and BioWare caved. Basically validating all the petty remarks made against women with fair hair. It was disgusting.
Had a redhead or brunette won originally, there wouldn't have been a problem.
The fans made choice. It's none of your concern. What you're arguing is nothing more than nerds being nerds.
I'd say this has nothing you do with women at all. Not really. I think you're far more upset that Bioware caved to public pressure. You're using women as an excuse to justify a silly viewpoint.
THAT is disgusting.

I thank the fans and Bioware for making the option available. I like her arc, and as a character.

I hope the magister does. He does keep a Daedroth in his tower, those are the Dinosaurs of the TES universe (Hint-hint BW).

Too many insults?
The people that protested the blonde female shepard were acting in a demonstrably misogynstic fashion. Is it an insult to call the sky blue?
The people that protested the original ending, ended up dumbing it down for me. Is it an insult to call water wet?
The most insulting thing in this thread are the petty 'troll' jibes. If you geniunely believe that the only way someone could feel differently to you on a subject is because they want to rile up a web community, then you may have a mental illness.

I remember the red head winning actually, the first thing they voted on was appearance, dark or skin light skin, general hair style. Round 2 of voting was to determine the hair color but I guess you missed that part.blacqout wrote...

Ad Hominem attacks are just the right kind of thing to use in a debate.
This is about Bioware caving. It has nothing to do with women.
You're just using them as an excuse to justify your viewpoint.
Disgusting.

A silly viewpoint? That blonde women are fully capable isn't a 'silly viewpoint'. It's an observable fact. Look at Yulia Tymoshenko and all she did for Ukraine.
A lot of blonde women were upset with the way BioWare handled that. The fans did make a choice... they chose blonde. But because a small minority believe that blonde women can't hold a gun, or a thought above how their make-up looks, it was eventually changed.

Nope.
Round 1 was to vote on the Shepard. Not the hair, not the face, the whole thing. There was nothing to indicate otherwise.
It was only after the petty comments and insults towards women with blonde hair that the secondary poll was set up.

You aren't arguing that. You're angry that Bioware changed something. You've stated this above. This isn't about women. This about your own personal grudge against the fanbase. That's incredibly silly.

I'm upset that things were changed, yes. Primarily because of the reasoning behind that change.

No, some people were acting in a misogynystic fashion. And considering this is the internet, that's to be expected. Should I lump all pro-enders into your "insulting" category? Personally, I like to think not. I like to think that there are pro-enders who can make their beliefs known rationally. With very little thought attached, you attempt to lump anyone who disliked the fem-shep design into a very narrow group. I wish that I could have had a say in what male-shep looked like, as per the fem-shep vote.
The people that protested the original ending, ended up dumbing it down for me. Is it an insult to call water wet?
Just about, since you still have your wonderfully symbolic ending. It's also off-topic since your thread is about the retcon of Tali's age.
The most insulting thing in this thread are the petty 'troll' jibes. If you geniunely believe that the only way someone could feel differently to you on a subject is because they want to rile up a web community, then you may have a mental illness.
Feeling differently is all well and good. You can "feel" how you want. I really don't give a crap. But then spouting phrases like "all the idiots who got the wonderfully symbolic ending changed" or your references to pedophilia puts you in a different realm than "feelings". You don't get a free pass because you suddenly wish to play the victim. My point stands: your OP is inflammatory in nature.

There was nothing to indicate that a second poll was ever the plan. It only happened to appease all the whining.

I like redheads and whatnot, but the way they went with it for Default FemShep was kind of bullocks. People voted for her, but now they're saying she looks like a **** because she's blonde? Let's call a vote for the hair colour now. The hell?
One of the stupid things is it isn't like anyone uses default Shep's anyway. The one in game is kind of creepy looking. The freckles and the eyes make for a "I'll put you in the freezer!" look. Not to mention that it doesn't really look like the Shep in the Take Earth Back trailer. Looks more like that Shep's daughter.
Reminds me of something. For the advertisements and all that why does Male Shep only get the scars? Why is FemShep all prettied up with makeup?

Yeah if you're human which Tali isn't and as far as i know there have been nothing told about the phonetic development of the quarians and that's not even factoring in that you hear Tali though translation.
