I'm just feeling very disillusioned with BioWare right now.

The three examples in my opening post are examples of how they have been forced to make changes that actively made the game worse, not just for me, but for a lot of people. And hurt a lot of women's feelings in the process.

I actually think that i'm glad Mass Effect is over. It had one of the worst communities, of any entertainment franchise, ever. The misogny and idiocy that was allowed to run rampant sickens me to my stomach.

I'm glad to see that a lot of people in this forum don't appear to be fans of Dragon Age, so hopefully that wont get tarnished for me.

LOL @ this mangina.

Nevertheless I agree with you that Bioware engages in a lot of dumb fan service mostly to appease neckbeards.

Dragon Age 2 has fans?

I liked and am a fan of Isabela!

Does that count?

Wow, op, you have no proof that there WASN`T a plan to have a second vote on the hair colours for the default femshep. You shouldn`t present your opinion as fact just because its what you think happened.

I voted for the blonde femshep with the longer hairstyle because I liked that hairstyle, not because she was blonde (which I am by the way, so you could say Im a little biased toward the colour) I personally think that its great that red hair won the second pole as the original default femshep was a red-head.

On the subject of Tali`s voice. She is quarian, not human. The game and extended universe never go into the aging process of the quarians (although they do for asari and salarians) for all you know, age 20 could be when their voices change. There is also a 2 year span between ME1 and ME2, during which a lot could have happened to tali to affect her voice. Maybe she got a hole in her enviro-suit and caught a virus that damaged her vocal cords, much like having the colic as a baby will give a person a deeper voice in adulthood.

Whoa there, this is outright wrong. It wasn't wonderful, it was downright stupid. Then the EC fixed a -few- things, then made some really worse mistakes. No wonder you think they retconed Tali's age.

*sigh*

Dragon Age II is the best fantasy role-playing game of all time. It's second act is by far the best thing BioWare have ever written, and it has really cool loading screens.

That's definately satire

I mean 'it doesn't matter' as in the sense that it can't be changed now.

But no, my argument doesn't rely on that at all. Anyone that was here for the whole mess knows that a huge portion of complaints were laced with anti-blonde remarks. There was enough complaining to get BioWare to change the blonde hair.

What do you think would have happened if people complained that the black Shepard won?

Yeah except that the blonde hair was still an option in round 2 so it wasn't just removed for sake of complaints, if it had been it wouldn't have been an presented option, if people wanted that look it was there soooo no, just no.

You seem to be missing the point.

There was only ever supposed to be one poll. Blonde won. Some people didn't feel that blonde women are capable of saving the galaxy, so a secondary poll as held that about half as many people voted on.

The second poll wasn't at all representative of the wishes of the fanbase.

Had the black Shepard won, you can be damn sure BioWare wouldn't have touched any of the complaints with a ten foot pole, and that's a problem.

In some ways blonde women are incredibly unlucky, because the prejudice against them is almost institutionalised and accepted.

No, really. According to Raptr it's my most played game, with 372 hours. I love it.

Then what about Liara? She's like ten years old in asari years. If we're going by her age and the average asari lifespan, that is.

Yeah, yeah. I get it. You can 'headcanon' the problem away in any number of ways.

I think if you're honest with yourself, you'll admit that her voice was purposefully high as a way of portraying to the player that this non-human was supposed to be a young member of her species. It's a common trick in entertainment.

Mass Effect 3 made me a bigger fan of Dragon Age II. Still annoyed by the Felicia day DLC though.

Everyone knows that was supposed to make her seem younger and they purposely made it deeper as well as other things in the second to show she matured. This isn't a startling revelation.

Wow, you're bright!

It's a shame that her maturation in ME2 isn't the issue, but rather the reason for that and how it presents Tali as being much older than she seems in the first game.

You should be up to speed now.

Your argument about bioware being sexist or misogynistic or caving to douche bag guy's was so weak that you tacked on the tali thing just to get more views and more interest in complaining about the blonde hair thing.

That or it was vice versa, with your point about tali not having enough to actually be a good argument against bioware and you needing to staple on the blonde thing just to look like there was more than 1 instance of it happeneing.

Either way, in both your points you use flimsy and subjective evidence, such as the pitch of a voice and ignoring that tali's body structure does not change from ME1 to Me2 except her head seemingly getting a little wider, and the blonde thing which ignores the fact that it was a public poll that not everyone got to take the first time around, and that it was changed with the public's wishes, and that the poll doesn't matter since you can customize your shepard with any hair color you want and the poll inpacted jack **** of this fact.

Your points are weak, and you being a raging internet paladin lashing out at imagined immorality is amusing but quickly dull to watch.

"Among the asari, I am still considered a child."

That I remember her saying quite clearly in ME1.

You know this for a fact you do you? Talked with someone who worked on the design team or had any sort of influence on the process? You have proof to back up this claim other then a few people on the internet making remarks? That tends to happen, not everything that happens later is a direct result of it. Maybe they just intended to have two rounds from the start? But no you're right that's impossible, no one has ever done that sort of voting process before.

My argument isn't that BioWare are sexist or misogynstic, but rather that their eagerness to pander to the sexist and misogynstic elements within their fanbase is most distressing.

Perhaps if you were capable of comprehending what you read, and in turn understanding my post, you'd enjoy it more?

Well from a point of view you've got a point; Bioware does love pandering to the hormone addled of us with Miranda's colossal arse cheeks for example...but not by making a lassie's hair red like you're obsessing about.

Yep. That is impossible.

Were it the intention all along, we would have been clearly told that we were voting on 'skin colour and hair style'. So what... if the black model won, they'd have held a secondary poll with the same skin tone and hair cut, but with six different colours?

Don't be ridiculous.

That's characterisation. I don't have a problem with that.
