Wow OP, seriously? Did you have a really unhappy childhood or something?

Every single post i've seen from you is either negative, extremely condescending or just downright insulting - and it's usually a mix of all three. What gives? Because unintentionally or not, you're coming across as a very unpleasent person behind that moniter.

Well actually, kind of yeah.

For my 19th birthday my dad bought me a Mercedes CLK cabriolet 500 sport instead of the porsche i wanted. And in 1996 my mother ignored my pleas to have a cesarean and ended up, as expected, giving birth to my sister on Christmas day.

Every christmas after that was essentially ruined, as i had to wait for her to open her birthday presents before i was allowed to even look at my xmas gifts.

But seriously the blonde gene died out? F**k no, it is obvious someone at Bioware is a massive pig.

I already completed 1 complete playthrough as a blonde female.
You mad Bioware?

Didn't this have something to do with Tali vas Jailbait...? Then there was something about barbie femshep and miranda's arse and then armchair psychology...

I was only banned for a day, i think. It was after i called a bunch of people 'codex zealots' on account of the fact they wanted to revert to full body armour on account of the way medi-gel is applied, as described in the codex.

I thought it was unnecessary, and greatly preferred ME2's approach to squad attire.

Miranda's derrier isn't exantly 'giant'. It's prominant, sure, but suits her body type. I also feel that her outfit is a good visual representation of her character... the white one especially.

When i look at miranda, i see that, and not 'a giant arse'.

If you hold your thumb up to your eye, is it suddenly a giant thumb? Maybe you haven't learned about perspective at school yet, but Miranda's ass isn't 'giant', no matter how close it is to the camera.

"I can't get distracted, you'll have to shove your arse out my face for now, Miranda!"

The irony of all this is I always thought Miranda was a butt-ugly michael jackson impersonator with the personality of a stuck-up cow.

"At school yet"... again with the silly talking-down to make yourself sound somehow superior to those around you.

Ah but remember he isn't trying to be smug, arrogant, condesending or anythig else you want to pick.

Like I siad every post I've seen of his in every thread is just like this, everyone else's point of view is wrong and can't be supported but his doesn't need support as he said it.

Personally I'd be arguing about the fact that so many of the camera angles were picked to show off Miranda's butt, as if there was no other angle that would give them a better view, rather than Tali's voice/age or Shepard's hair colour but maybe that's just me.

I'm glad to see that a lot of people in this forum don't appear to be fans of Dragon Age, so hopefully that wont get tarnished for me.

Dragon Age 2 has fans?

I liked and am a fan of Isabela!

Does that count?

I liked it and I'm a fan of Fenris and Merill

Congratulations OP, you've successfully united the people of BSN against you!
And while I detest arguments myself, I have to admit that your comments have a self-superior quality to them.

Do you know that Mass Effect is a video game?

You say this, and still you make a big deal about FemShep's default hair color. Sure, Bioware may have changed the poll because some parts of the community asked them too, and maybe some of these people used very unpleasant remarks, but the fact is that Bioware listened to their community and gave us more control over something. Obviously, its just FemShep's default look, so we can change it if we want: thats the beauty of a video game like this!

Think about the community for a moment; there are vast numbers of people who play these games, and only a small minority likely visit these forums (and voted in the poll). Of these people, not everybody will leave a message on the forums; I've been reading these forums for the past year or so, and only recently have I posted anything. Like me, there will be plenty of people who post, but not often. So I ask you, who do Bioware rely on for their feedback?
The majority of Bioware's feedback will come from the so-called 'vocal minority', who make their opinions known, in some cases repeatedly or with strong language. There will always be many people who don't get their opinions heard, and the fact that Bioware at least tries to cater to some of their community only makes them seem more involved and active, which is a good thing.

As for the topic of Tali's age, I never played ME1, as I am on PS3, so I don't know what she sounded like then. But the fact that she has spent the intervening time working on critical missions for the Flotilla indicates that she has matured a lot since the first game. Sure, she may be several years younger than Shepard, but as other people have mentioned, the Pilgrimage is a passage into adulthood, so it is clear to me that by ME2 she is definately an adult. I believe that Bioware made Tali a LI in ME2 because she was so popular, but they did the same with Garrus, who I understand was also very popular in ME1.

As for changing the ending, I have to admit that the endings feel more complete to me now that the EC has been released, although I would love Bioware to bring out something else to give us the sense that our other choices during the series mattered in the battle for Earth.

And for the record, I didn't vote in the first poll, but I voted for the redhead FemShep in the second poll. Why? Because I've always thought readheads are less common (in our time at least) than blondes and brunettes, and Shepard is definately someone special.
Of course, for one of my FemSheps, I've given her purple hair, but that was my choice. :)

One more thing to put at the end of my essay; I am a big fan of Dragon Age as well. I thought that Origins had a much better story, but DA2 improved on the combat mechanics and spells/talents. I felt that DA2 suffered where ME3 suffered; only a few major decisions mattered long term, and then you were effectively left with one choice that affected what ending the game got. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoyed both games, but I reckon ME2 and DA:O did their final missions better.

 … is Tali’Zorah’s age.

In Mass Effect 2 we discover via her dossier that she was born in 2161, making her 22 during the events of the opening game - however this number doesn’t fit the girl we saved from Fist’s thugs in a Citadel alley, for reasons i will explain momentarily.

Firstly, know that her age was given as a result of her popularity in the first game, and the droves of male fans that were upset she wasn’t a romanceable character.

BioWare, ever eager to pander to the scummiest of their fans (remember blonde shepard fiasco where misogynist comments caused them to hold a secondary poll) artificially aged Tali, so she could be included as a love interest without controversy.

We meet Tali while she is on her Pilgrimage, an act carried out by each Quarian when they ‘come of age’. This age could be anything, but if you pay careful attention you can narrow it down somewhat. Tali speaks with a noticeably high-pitched voice in the first game. Tali speaks with a noticeably deeper voice in the sequel. Voice artist Liz Sroka appears to be in her late 20’s, so there is no way this discrepancy can be attributed to a natural change in her voice… especially as she performs the role in a non-natural accent, indicating she has enough control to fake it.

The higher pitch of Tali would have been performed under the direction of BioWare, to fit the character that at this point, was envisioned as having not quite reached womanhood yet. A sort of Mission Vao for Mass Effect.

Obviously BioWare had to get Liz to use a deeper voice in the second game, in order to make her appear like less of a child… but the unfortunate fact is that Tali was re-written because some fans allowed their 29 year-old Commander Shepard to fall for an adolescent in Mass Effect.

I do wish they’d stop changing things for the worst elements within the fanbase. The misogynists got female Shepard’s hair changed from blonde to red, the idiots got the ending changed from a wonderfully symbolic closing to a by-the-numbers happy-o-thon, and the creeps got Tali changed from a bright kid to someone they could screw.

yeah this is called Flame bait.........I think this should be flagged as spam :P

You nearly got me to write a serious response, but then I luckily realised you're potatoes.

You misunderstood my sentiment.

When i asked that person if he realised Mass Effect was a video game, i did so because i wanted to point out that as a form of entertainment, it's reasonable to assume that it would use common tactics within the industry to allow human players to 'read' non-human characters.

Tali's voice was highly pitched for a reason: to make her look young. When dealing with non-human characters, human traits are attributed to allow the viewer to make sense of them. I was definitely not implying that 'it's just a video game, so why care about it?' as you seem to be suggesting.

I also don't think that you appreciate the institutionalised prejudice blonde women are faced with every day. If you were to make a racist remark against a Spanish person, you would likely be thought poorly of by many people, but it seems to be okay to belittle blonde women... and BioWare un-blonding femshep is a huge deal. It made a definite statement.
