The people that protested the blonde female shepard were acting in a demonstrably misogynstic fashion. Is it an insult to call the sky blue?

The people that protested the original ending, ended up dumbing it down for me. Is it an insult to call water wet? 

The most insulting thing in this thread are the petty 'troll' jibes. If you geniunely believe that the only way someone could feel differently to you on a subject is because they want to rile up a web community, then you may have a mental illness. 

You didn't have to download the EC professor.

If there was some way for me to keep the additional dialogue with the catalyst but cut everything else, i would. The added 'clarity' completely undid what made the original ending so spectacular. 

The galaxy was not only free of the Reapers, but of the confines placed on it by the BioWare writing team. Shepard had won the galaxy's freedom, and it was the first time the Milky Way had truly been free since the Leviathan's messed up.

We know that the Reapers had been manipulating the galaxy for time beyond counting, and in Leviathan we learn that the Catalyst was actively experimenting with the cycles.

Being free kind of means not knowing what will happen. What we know is that the Milky Way has the opportunity to rebuild and thrive without the shadow of the Reapers looming over it.

When i asked that person if he realised Mass Effect was a video game, i did so because i wanted to point out that as a form of entertainment, it's reasonable to assume that it would use common tactics within the industry to allow human players to 'read' non-human characters. 

Tali's voice was highly pitched for a reason: to make her look young. When dealing with non-human characters, human traits are attributed to allow the viewer to make sense of them. I was definitely not implying that 'it's just a video game, so why care about it?' as you seem to be suggesting.

I also don't think that you appreciate the institutionalised prejudice blonde women are faced with every day. If you were to make a racist remark against a Spanish person, you would likely be thought poorly of by many people, but it seems to be okay to belittle blonde women... and BioWare un-blonding femshep is a huge deal. It made a definite statement.

Actually, I understood your sentiment, but I still fail to see how Bioware listening to their community (even just some) is a bad thing.

No, as I am not a blonde woman (not even a woman) I do not know how it feels to be stereotyped for that.
I do not think poorly of blonde women myself, though I know it is a general stereotype in society. The fact that you think I might is insulting, but as you clearly don't know me, I can forgive that.

The only general stereotype I have pertains to the entire human species, although as it is a stereotype, it clearly doesn't apply to all people, perhaps not even the majority. One thing I don't like, however, is people who go out of their way to be insulted; they're just as bad as people who go out of their way to do the insulting.

Since this discussion is circular, I must depart, to do something constructive with my time.

Also, Tali's age at 22 might not even be a retcon. While quarians have a life span comparable to humans, it would not be exactly the same. So 22 for a quarian could very well be the equivalent of being 18 for a human.

Zaeed is apparently 40. although this contradicts his backstory. i think these character age's where created after the characters and backstories. it explains how off some of this stuff is. going by zaeed's back story, he would be 15 or so when he was in the Alliance. (doesn't make sense)

Zaeed is such a badass it makes perfect sense.


Edit: Granted I am sure it is a oversight by the writing team, but it works out for Zaeed.

If you remove the insults and self-aggrandizement and assume the OPer's complaints are extreme hyperbole, assume his headcanon about Tali's voice and age are true, assume he has some insider info about Bioware's femshep poll and assume everyone that did not want a blond Shepard were misogynists (somehow), then he is just a condescending person that purposefully aggravates people online.

You may actually be angry about something else but for whatever reason cannot express it. Lashing out at others is irresponsible. "The fans" are not responsible for you feeling unable to control your life.

Maybe you just want to feel, or justify why, you feel like a victim. "Look at all these mean, evil people being mean and saying mean things." the ban that is sure to come for your inflammatory posts will help.
