OP, your delivery is lacking, but this silver level player actually sort of agrees with you. I just don't think it's really a problem with people being "randoms", but rather that they're bad players, the difference between a noob and a newb. The latter can learn the required skills and will put in the effort (use gels, rockets, equipment etc.) but may still die a lot and score less than the experienced players. I don't think these are the guys you have a problem with. The noob, however, has no desire to learn, will not use his precious equipment, and will see it as your job to make sure he gets his phat loot. That guy does suck. He sucked on silver too. He'll always suck.

The fact is, for someone who wants to learn the ropes of a higher difficulty level, a period of sucking is just something that's gonna happen. How he deals with that, though, says a lot. Making the effort to reduce the level of suck should go a long way. But being "random" for having the audacity to enter a public game... That has nothing to do with it.

It's not just gold I get players in silver who shouldn't be there

casters with overweight loadouts (yet still trying to use their powers)

Players who don't gel but don't bother trying to revive me either

Ya I definitely could have worded that title a bit better. I am referring to noobs and have no angst against players who are new but giving it their best. This game is tough and playing with randoms makes it doubly so.

Being 'random' does have nothing to do with it. that is just a convenient (and incorrect) label I use amongst friends. I should of course have used the term leecher or something along those lines.

But seriously, those guys really do suck.

Happens. Just had an incredibly unlucky streak of Gold PUG's, I believe I failed more than 60% of them... always with me on the top of the scoreboard :/
Since I only play PUG's, there's not much I can do about it, so I leave it at that.

I play random silver constantly and sometimes you  get to play with really bad players, but I really don't care most of the time because I can carry them. When I sometimes play gold that's when the players matter to me. I guess the only thing that bugs me is the N7 level 1's playing random silver.

Is it wrong to think that a silver standard player should play on silver? 
I have no qualms with low lvl players. I do however take issue when someone who is not a gold standard player brings a poorly thought out character with no gear or equipment into a gold match.

a player who would rather fail than use one of his precious med gels. This is the type of player that i refer to as a random. A player who has no real ambition towards winning the mach or contributing in any way.
If you choose to defend that type of player or if you are one yourself, well from me to you - Go F**k yourself.

looks to me you're a farmer who does not help out on event weekends, go sit behind your counter and keep your self out of random games as non of us really care about your next whine of the day.

public is meant to be played freestyle ... deal with it.

I've been a "random" and sometimes even with classes I'm good with. Sometimes, you just suck even when you shouldn't.

Good example of that was me and my Geth Engineer last night. Normally I average second place, last night I barely hit 3rd place in 5 matches.

This weekend, I think it has to do more with the event than with the players as I even find myself not using my consumables when I normally would.

There might be a reason they're not using consumables this weekend. Just throwing that out there.

Also, how can all the other players in a random match come dead last?

The problem isn't that. I've had to go through several dozen lobbies because f**king jagoffs are playing Lv.10s in a Platinum lobby.

Admittedly there have been a lot of new players come in recently due to ME3 being heavily discounted. I joined a game on wave 3 today and ended up with three times the score of the 2nd place player (Drell Vanguard, Avenger X, Always Be Charging, though the next game I switched it to Phaeston X).

However the ones I've come across, with N7 less than 120 and with level 1 guns and no gears have been in Bronze. Since they're generally running rare characters it looks like they're saving their credits and buying PSPs, so they may well not have any consumables at all (you need to complete 7 bronze games to get a PSP).

However they'd be crazy to try Gold or Plat with that, but if they desperately want to, they will.

Nope, not a farmer. As for that playing freestyle crap your spouting, its the playing bit im referring to, doesn't seem like you randoms know how to actually do it.

I can totally relate to that. Usually I play with friends only, but when no one is online, I'm gonna go down to silver to play PUGs (I've given up on Gold-PUGs or higher, usually I just don't do it anymore) and even there, I'm surprised by how some people treat the game and their squadmates. I mean, it's only Silver, okay, but I still use my consumables when necessary, definitly in objective waves. I don't even expect it from randoms anymore so the times someone actually uses something I'm positively surprised. It's sad though that other people expect you to use your consumables to get them through matches. It's even worse on the higher difficulties, practically no one uses their precious medi-gel, even on objective waves. No rockets either when hackzones get swarmed or something... random games tend to suck big time usually.

I managed to top the scoreboard in Public with a Locust. I'm sorry but when a guy is doing more damage than you with the Locust, is dying less and is doing the objective, there is something effing wrong... But yeah it was FBWGG so you can't really take that as a true test, FBWGG players are oftentimes Silver players who need creds so...

Funny thing,I actually got more kills with the Destroyer's Missile Launcher than with the Locust xD
