HAHAHAHAHAHA I love people's knee jerk reactions.
Is this one song the entire album?
NO than I suggest you STFU because I'm going to listen to the whole thing before i judge.
This sounds like some sort of opening track that bands some times do.

This song sounds decent but hey what do I know one dubstep track ruined everything thats right... All their great songs in the past is ruined because of one dubstep track.

Dub step is not music. Not really. My dog can produce such noise on a good day.

I fail to see the issue here. It's one song out of like 12-15 songs.

You are talking about brostep, not dubstep.

Some brostep is good. I like a few of skrillex's songs. But on a whole, the genres is a bit....lacking...

So another band jumped on the fad. Chill out bud, they'll be bored of it after this and jump on the next one soon enough.

Though brostep does have it's time and place, it's not in any rock song. Crossing genres usually doesn't work out too well.

Muse never stays with the same thing for long. Though the last album I actually listened to excessively was Absolution. And Starlight, Soldier's Poem and Invincible from Black Holes And Revelations, they started to ape**** during that album with stuff to not like them anymore about. I wasn't a fan of Resistance after hearing it.

I rather liked Unsustainable. Interesting that it was an instrumental with only the ethereal wailing and "news broadcast" for "lyrics." As a big fan of Muse, I'm eagerly awaiting the album.

And really, guys, the sarcastic insults aren't appreciated. If stuff like Muse and dubstep/brostep ain't your cup of tea, you're not obligated to show off how obviously superior your musical tastes are over everyone else's.

But every Muse song sounds the same and just as meh as the previous one.

Oh wait, yeah, Muse fans like that.

I... should go.

Kind of agre to this. Don't get me wrong, I like Muse, but their songs ressemble eachother strongly. (Not all of them, but still)

And I guess we'll just have to wait for the whole CD in stead of 1 song.

Every band does that. That's why I really hate it when people praise a band endlessly. I don't usually buy albums. I listen to 2 or 3 songs from each band I like.

You can always just listen to their old tunes.
Heck, during concerts they still play the fan favourites.

Your favourite band is far from over.

That tune is okay in my honest opinion. Bit heavy on the ears. Not sure whether it's "2 Steps from Hell" style cinematic tune or a club tune. It's a confused tune. The kind you get from experimentation. This track shows that Muse is trying to do new things, rather than more of the same.

I always encourage experimentation. Even if the results are a bit confused.
It allows artists to try out different styles.
Combine established styles.
Move out of their comfort zone.
If successful, could even help them reboot themselves.

Like I said. You don't like their new music, just listen to their old music.
The old Muse you know and love is still alive and well.

Personally, I think the tune is okay.

But musically it's a confused mixture of club dubstep, end of the world "Two Steps From Hell" cinematic.

The message. Oh thank goodness we have music that doesn't come under the following categories.

Pining over girls/boys
Courtship/dating
The beginning of a new romance
The blossoming of a romance
Troubles in a relationship
The relationship is falling apart
The break up song
The I want you back song
THE I'M BEGGING YOU TO COME BACK SONG
The get over it, there's plenty more fish in the sea song.

I do like those themes in pop music alot.
But there is simply no need for 99.9% of all popular music to fit into those categories.
I want more variety in themes.
Most pop music is the same relationship themes repackaged. The same stuff people were singing about in the 1930's, they still sing today. Music has changed, but the lyrics always stay the same.

Kudos to Muse, not only trying to cover a theme that is rare in pop music, but also presenting the lyrics in the form of a news report. There is inventiveness in that video, even if the delivery of the message is a bit ham fisted.

Might be too early to say "it's over" but it does make you wonder what their doing now. Where's the exciting guitar solos and killer drums? Why does Matt look so scruffy lately? Maybe they peaked already and it's just down hill from here or maybe they are trolling their existing fans and trying to grab new ones. Who freaking knows.

I'm not a huge Muse fan but...

Old Muse

Compare that to the song in the OP.

It's just the times. Everyone is doing it.

Old Korn

New Korn

Old Lupe Fiasco

New Lupe Fiasco

Those are just a few examples. Brostep is the huge thing right now. It will die out just like DnB. These artists will no longer do it afterwards. So no, people aren't ruined right now. They're just trying to sell records.

It's ruined forever. Forever, I say.

...I still like "Take a Bow".

Okay, well not dead. But much less popular than it was at it's peak.
