3 questions.

1. Why do you have the key to an artefact that literally reveals the Reapers don't harvest pre-spaceflight species?

2. Why do you only **** people who don't appreciate your words?

3. Why do you disappear after ME1?

I love how this thread has went from a discussion about Halo and Mass Effect to pictures of gay and lesbian Shepards to requests for Shepard to show his dick in a dlc.

Every so often a thread improves as it goes along.

Huh? That was obvious anyway.

Then you have the ones that go stright to the toilet.  Like this one... I had hoped to come here to discuss the intricates of a game series. Intead I am slapped in the face with inapproptiate pictures of lewd homosexual behavior.

I'm going back to Skyrim...

Halo as of 2 and 3 tried to be a deep sci fi story which just made it annoying. Reach got me back into playing Halo while the Anniversary edition kind of turned me off again -.- that and glasslands, why do odst people hate the Spartans anyway, arrrgh unneeded conflicted!

Meh, people who think Halos story is original never played Starcraft. It's even more hilarious when you know that Halo was originally going to be an RTS.

But I digress,

There's nothing wrong with taking inspiration from other franchises. ME3 was ALWAYS no matter what fanboys say, a TPS/RPG, and the shooting mechanics are fantastic because of all the improvements. The only real screw up is the writing, and that's less about trying to be COD and more about throwing your planned finale out the window and have two Artists try to be 2001 A Space Odyssey.

Just becuae you go back there doesn't make it a hub world. You can go back there as much as you what and see nothing is going on.

Don't kid yourselfand say youdon't just sell your stuff on yourship and go to the citadel.

The same holds true for Tuchanka.

You seem to refuse to admit your mistake. Pride is a terrible thing.

Sigh... this is useless.

But tuchancka has things there that is unique to that placeyou need to go there to get. That is wht your missing here.

I completely agree. Also note that while Halo does stay true to itself, it does innovate a little, like the new free episodic missions in MP, but like you say, it knows what it is. EA is one of the worst publishers out there minly because it's a corporation, which have a central focus on making money. Mass Effect 1 and 2 were far better than three because I could not easily describe what kind of games they were to other people. They were brilliant blends of astoundingly well-defined characters, immersive storytelling, and just enough of a challenge in combat so you don't feel like you're going through the motions when fighting. What do I say when asked about Mass Effect 3? It's basically Gears of War with better characters and powers.

One thing I find completely unbelieveable is how they thought they could widen the target audience so far and give it such a narrowly-understood ending. A generic fan of the action-packed FPS that completes ME3 isn't going to know what they just experienced because they're used to simply killing or blowing things up and being done with it. (Not saying fans of FPSs are unable to understand lengthy and detailled stories, but someone playing the game because they want an anction game isn't going to care for the story anyway.)

Too much ambition, too much wasted potential and too little time spent in development with the wrong writers. If this trend continues (The dumbing down of every game series EA comes to own) EA will no longer have the ability to call me a customer, and I'm sure many others will leave as well.

Halo 1 had a pretty good sci-fi story, with the fear of the unknown. Halo 2 was also good. Halo 3 was made up of 2 chapters that were cut from Halo 2 due to time constraints, and was thus forgettable and slow. I like the Halo universe, but most of that came from the books. The games are just additional content (that deviates from the story, because consistency is for whimps)

Also, the ODSTs hate the Spartans, because the ODSTs were the most highly decorated and specialized fighting force that the UNSC had, prior to the Spartan program. How would you feel if you spent your entire life training to be the best in your field, only to have your boss dump billions of dollars into making a computer that could do your job better?

I liked the first Halo, plot was mostly a decoration
Halo 2 was the derp settling in to the setting.
Halo 3, maybe because all of the game mags were talking about how deep its narrative was (lol) but that just turned me off since you know I remember Halo: CE being the fun and awesome shooter.
ODST: Favorite plotwise i think, primarily due to the audio logs
Wars: ehhhhh
Reach: Got me back into Halo after 3 lost me
Anniversary: killitwithfirekillitwithfirekillitwithfirekillitwithfirekillitwithfirekillitwithfirekillitwithfire!
The ODSTs hating the Spartans still seems petty to me, maybe rivalry but it is still almost as stupid as the whole hatred of Halsley in Glasslands (would have shot Lucy, not because she punched Halsley but you know, she is an annoying as frick character)
