Um well, roughly half of the Covenant split from the other half during Halo 2. The Elites were on the humans side. The Covenant was in Civil War as of the end Halo 2. The Covenant wasn't defeated in Halo 3, but the Prophet of Truth was killed. The leader of the Covenant. Couple this with the fact that the Covenant Loyalists around the Ark were defeated by the Elites makes a lot of sense as to why there were no Covenant at the end of the game. The game should have been a little more clear that the Loyalsts above the Ark were defeated. I would've liked to see a cutscene of the Shipmaster destroying them.David7204 wrote...
You see it happening near the end of the third game. Apparently they just give up after that since you don't fight them any longer and nobody mentions them as a threat anymore.
Didnt you fight the Covenant in the last level though? I seem to remember them being involved again at the end.
and the hub debate: Noveria and Feros both had side missions, optional areas to explore, and off planet quests that could be triggered on those planets. That makes them small hubs IMO.
