[I am disappoint]

I thought I liked the Halo 3 Cortana the most but this Halo 4 one looks good.
The dark hair puts me off though because it seems odd with rest of the other colors used.

'Specially since Reach (cameo) and Combat Evolved Anniversary used Halo 3 design Cortana.

I agree, but mostly because of my fond memories of playing Halo 2 on maps like Lockout, Headlong, Beaver Creak and Coagulation.

Mass Effect should really have stuck to being Mass Effect.

This is where the argument fails, because a piece of media is only objectively bad if its broken mechanically, like Big Rigs, Skyrim on the PS3, or Limbo of the Lost.

He isn't saying that.  Let me try and explain what I think he is saying-
I myself, hate Halo.  I hate its controls, I hate its story, and I don't care for it.  HOWEVER-  I agree with OP.  What he is saying is that Halo is better because it isn't really trying to be anything other than Halo.  Mass Effect is desperately attempting to be something it isn't.  EA and Bioware are forcing ME to be something it shouldn't be in the hope to make money.  "Call of Duty and Battlefield made a lot of money?  ADD MULTIPLAYER-  MASS EFFECT IS A SHOOTER NOW."  etc.  Mass Effect is trying to be something that it isn't and the entire series suffers for it.  Halo on the other hand-  is just Halo.  And it is praised for it.

I don't spend time in the threads like you do but I bet you saw some images of Cortez in the hot zone thread and had go of it on dark cold windy night with the rain pouring on the roof.
