I am so totally immersed in it, and I am so totally seeing the family relationship/descendancy from BG now. I love my relationships with the NPC's - what I think would be the "canon" party of me, Alistair, Morrigan, and Liliana. The tactical combat on "nightmare" difficulty is awesome, making me feel like I'm in a BG game on core rules difficulty.
I am starting to see some replayability here that I used to not see, for only the chance to use different four member party combos from beginning (or at least from beginning until gaining access to Dog, Morrigan, Leilana, and Sten) to end. (With the usual "late-joining" temptations like Oghren, Wynne, and Zevran.)
I only wish that we could have six-member parties without upsetting the "nightmare" difficulty balance (which many have complained is still too easy), for only to see more of the ingeniously programmed npc interactions.
DA:O was obviously such a labor of love from its developers, before they "sold their souls" in DA2, and DA:O was clearly inspired by BG. I am treasuring my recently new perspective on this precious gem of gaming.
I have never even bought DA2, and since my spiritual intuition resonates so strongly with the majority community opinion of "don't buy this horror, it is an abomination created by gaming executive demons", I doubt I ever will. I do not want my love of Ferelden ruined by a nightmare of corporate, profiteering, vampiristic idiocy.
Maker, I love this game anew.
I would like to engage in so many discussions about the rich lore of this world - "Do you think the Maker is real or is He only a figment of desperate human imagination, much like the debate between atheists and those of faith irl?" "Who and what is Flemeth, and should you try to kill her, did she really plan to possess Morrigan, or is she just a very crafty deity trying to find a worthy daughter?" "Do you support the ruthless policing of magic in Ferelden and why or why not?"
Such rich fantasy and dream fuel has been given us here! I so hope that the "Makers" will be able to return to their roots in any DA3 that might happen, freed from the horrible subjugation of the Skeksis. And a golden No-Prize to you if you know what a "Skeksis" is. And if you know what a "No-Prize" is.
