ME1 was good.
DA:O was amazing.
ME2 was good.
DA ][ was good.

I'm not going to buy-Bioware will need to earn my trust back- but I'll borrow it when my Aunt buys it. If it is a master piece, then I'll forgive them a little bit for the clustercuss of ME3. So I have really low expectations for Bioware products now, but as other people said, I'm more inclined to be pleasently surprised that way.

But it's a different part of Bioware working on DA3 right? Maybe with Mac and Casey far away and not able to screw it up DA3 be a good third installment.

My expectations for DA3 is basically the same as most people. They are high but that is because BioWare has been asking monthly question as what we want from the DA universe and whenever asked they have always stated that they are doing what they can. All I hope for is fast pace combat with more tactics, lot more difference in levels, and (what BioWare is really known for) a deeper story. So yea, expectations are high and possibly with pressure.

Have to disagree with you there.

Bioware makes worlds: places with fascinating lore that would make the place interesting to live in.

Okay, fine, one of the things that BioWare is known for story.  But, yea, you're right there is a lot of lore in their games, execptly in the DA universe.

I expect great characters. That is something Bioware seems thoroughly committed to delivering.

If you're looking for good story, it ain't BW--they've been stuck on the whole ANCIENT EVIL>GATHER THE RACES thing for how many years?

Well Jade Emprie and SWTOR, didn't really have the ancient evil or race gathering.  I mean yea, there were a few class based stories that had that in SWTOR, but not every class had that story.  And Jade Emprie was about it was about a brother trying to take control of the emprie cause neither of them could really come to terms with the fact the drought was slowly killing the empire.  But it didn't have ancient evil or race gathering as the main theme of the story.

You've picked the two I haven't played, lol. But one's an MMO, so a bit climactic thing like that probably wouldn't have worked. And everything after JE but DA ][ has had that story.

I hope its good. Origins is my fav. DA2 was good, could've been better but i still play it. ME1 was alright, 2 was good, and 3.... well i loved it till the end.
I think they'll do great with the characters, i've loved all the characters in the game, its the storyline i worry about. Graphics i think will be good.
I'll end up pre-ordering it, and playing it when it first comes out b/c i have to know for myself how it plays out. Here's hoping its great!!

One of the SWTOR stories is a bit more of the "collect and destroy a powerful evil."  Not all though.  THere's some good diversity between the classes.

I strongly recommend giving it a whirl once it goes F2P.

Yeah, I don't mind the ancient evils. I do mind the repetition of having to travel around, uniting different factions. ME1 was a great example of a story about an ancient evil that didn't need to unite people to fight. ME1 is almost entirely about chasing Saren and the conduit. I think ancient evils work, but the unifying aspect is a bit exhausted, after DAO/ME2/ME3. I hope DA3 doesn't have any/much of this aspect.

DA2 wasn't like that

I love it. But if you look at the ammount of crying from people that want the same plot as DAO, you would think Bioware invaded their houses and kicked their puppy! :D

Well, sorry that you haven't played them, I haven't played SWTOR either, but it does show that they don't recycle the same theme over and over again, but I also see your point.

I don't play MMOs. Too bad it isn't SP.

And for the record, I don't MIND the ancient evil>collect an army story--but it'll not win any awards, is the point.

I just want to say, you can play SWTOR entirely solo, on a strict RP-PVE server, without having to interact with other people at all.

I don't really intend to convince you to play, as much as I just feel bad for SWTOR. I think lots of people chose not to give the game a chance because it is an MMO. But at its core, if you play solo, it is very much a traditional single player RPG, with an optional multiplayer component.

I played an entire character to endgame entirely solo, and it felt very much like a traditional Bioware game.

If it were possible to play offline, I would do it. It is not, so I will not.

Which is sad, because I enjoy Bioware RPGs and I find the Star Wars universe quite interesting.

Partially, and partially that I simply refuse to play online games, just don't do it. Any kind--I bought Splinter Cell Conviction and AC2, Brotherhood, and Revelations for the Xbox used because I wasn't doing Ubi's always online gig. Eventually they dropped it so I got the AC games on PC, but we'll have to see with AC3. If it's always online I will either be playing on the Xbox or not at all.

But, anyway, not just connection issues.

That's understandable - I'm likely to buy Dragon Age 3 on Playstation 3 for that very reason. I'd likely enjoy it more on PC, but the emphasis on online connection is not my cup of wine. I haven't given up on DA3, but I've pretty much given up on Origin.

da3 should exceed the quality achieved in da 2 by quite a large margin, given that they're taking so long with it and after all the feedback they've received. will it be better than da:o? probably not, but if it's as good as ME2 i'll be over the moon!

If you always expect the worst all your surprises are good ones. Its been a good philosophy for the last 19 years so I'mma keep it. But really Bioware has yet to make a game that I have really disliked so meh.

I'm not expecting an amazing product equal to Origins because there a confirmations which simply not allow that it will live up to Origins. ( Voiced protag, dialogue wheel, DA II art style ( more or less confirmed) )
I think it'll be better than DA II because they can't do the same mistakes twice , or they shouldn't. Whether I'll buy it or not will be depending on gameplay footage and gamer reviews.

Me either, I'm sure TOR would be a fantastic game for MMO players, and people can say you can solo it the whole way through as much as they like, but I like my games to be finite and I can't stand the concept of paying for a game beyond purchase. DLC I can handle, but subscriptions I cannot.

I loved DA: O and I enjoy DA2 though I'm yet to actually finish a playthrough the whole way through, and the biggest draw for both of those games to me were the characters and learning more about their histories and developing relationships with them. Alistair is one of my favourite characters of any media of all time, so the one thing I believe BioWare will deliver on and the main reason I'll be purchasing DA3 will be for the party characters.

*Sigh* Now I'm back in one of my lack-of-KOTOR-3-inspired funks.
