I bought the Collector's Edition today in a shop, but installed the usual Edition before. How can I tell Origin now, that I have the Collector's Edition? WITHOUT uninstalling and re-installing it (because my current save would get lost then and that would be really sad.)
Can anyone help me?

You would have to talk to EA.
My advice is to open a support ticket and ask the question, they will probally want the serial code as proof then they should be able to unlock the items for you.

Can you not copy the save, place it in a temp folder, than if you re-install the new copy, you can put that character folder back into the saves?

I already did this, but they didn't help me until now. I thought maybe is here anyone who did the same irrational stuff as I did..^^ But thank you

I thought about it, too, but I'm not sure if it works, if this is the only folder with information about my save...

No, they're tied to your account, not to your installation.

But they're tied to the game with his special code, aren't they? And when I install the same game, but with another code (of course), I don't know if they're added to it then.

Once the code is linked to the account, those DLC's are as well. You do not need to keep re-entering the code; logging in will do it. That also counts for downloading and installing them as you need too.


Saving the character file save will work. I've done it before when I had to format my pc.

Okay I uninstalled ME3 and installed it again with the Collector's Edition CD. But Origin just installed the game like before, with the same productkey. It didn't even ask me for the new key.

How can I just install my Collector's Edition ..? F*** Origin.. makes everything so complicated.

The game files are the same, all that the CE adds is a few more permissions to your account and a few bits of DLC. Have you tried redeeming the CE code as you would if you were adding a new game to Origin?

Failing that, you can always get in contact with Origin support.

I don't know how i can redeem the code.. while installing it, Origin didn't ask me for it. And I found no way, how i can do it..

You should also be able to redeem the code in these forums. Look for the 'My Games' bar on the left-side menu, then choose 'Register Games'. You should be able to input your key there. Not sure if it'll work, but it can't hurt.

No it won't work.. because I already connected my old game with this forum, and when I unregister my game and register it again, it happens automatically and doesn't ask me for a code..

Alright, solved the problem. Found a way to redeem the productkey to Origin - thanks to everyone!!
