NOTICE:  I ask that posts debating the merits of one platform over another be avoided.

I currently play games on my PC, xBox360, and PS2 - but I've noticed a distinct trend as to which games I prefer with each.  Some of it, obviously, is a matter of which platform a particular game I like is available for, but - particularly with games available for ALL these platforms - each system has its own 'trend'.

Most of the games I play on my PS2 are turn-based strategy/combat games - Front Mission 4, ShadowHearts 2, Lunar, etc.  Cut-scenes are nice, obviously, and gameplay is relatively straight-forward, but it seems that most games I have for PS2 have deep involving storylines that draw me in.

Most of my xBox games are 'insane button-mashers' - Armored Core 4, Assassin's Creed (1 & 2), Fable III, etc.  This is also my preferred platform for racing games.

Most of my PC games are what I would classify as 'though-based' tactical games - primarily Sim City and Civilization, though I also play World of Warcraft and Diablo II and III on my PC.  At first I thought perhaps WoW and Diablo were due to internet connectivity (which I don't use on my xBox or PS2), but I quickly realized that - even if my consoles were online and the games available for them - I simply prefer using my PC for such games.

Which brings up an interesting consideration:  Is it that we simply prefer particular sorts of games on certain platforms, or is it simply a matter of which games are available for an individual platform?

Do we drive the market or does the market drive us?

Long story short, we're all gamers - each with our own individual preferences and style of play.  But I think it would be interesting to hear which platforms people prefer, and why.
