Well, then I stand corrected. It just seemed like a completely foreign concept to me, as a gamer, for someone to buy a device that has been known primarily as a video game player in the past (Playstation 1 & 2 were, arguably, mainly viewed as gaming devices, even though they did play other things such as CDs and DVDs) for a purpose other than playing video games.
I do agree that it was said to the wrong audience, though. One would imagine most, if not all, of the PS3 players here who are frequenting a video game forum would consider themselves "real gamers". If you feel you need to preface your words with "don't take this as an insult" (and, similarly, "with all due respect"), then chances are high that what you are about to say will absolutely seem insulting to many. I speak from personal experience on that one.
However, I have said my piece and am done here. I extend apologies to Upinya for any disrespect he may feel I gave to him. I did try my best to be calm and respectful, but I often fail at that, especially on forums.
Also, she. I'm a she. Been getting called "he" a lot lately, so friendly reminder.
Lol its all good. I never see a reason to argue or hold a grudge over a forum. I try to post in a polite way and am open to a debate but if i'm gonna get flamed i just ignore it and move on.
And yes it is an odd concept but the reson it happens is with the high price of consoles companies are trying to make them home media centers and pushing them to wider audiance for greater sales. when the wii outsold both the PS3 and 360 what did they do? PS3 made the "move" so it could be like a wii if wanted and the 360 made the kinect which is basically a step up from the wii's motion controls. The result of things liek this is to push the hardware to a wider audiance. I love my PS1 and PS2 to death. I loved my gamecube, N64, Super nintendo, nintendo, sega genesis etc. But after the 1st xbox release by PS2 went bye bye. MS brought online gaming and built in hard drives to consoles. Sony dind't do any of that. the PS2 was a grapic upgrade to the PS1 and that was about all. ninetendo was no competition to push them either. The result of the 360 has POSITIVELY affected the PS3 and vice versa. as long as they complete with each other WE the consumers win with better products. they know they need to be groundbreaking. No reason for us consumers to compete with each other. leave it to MS and sony and we can all get along an reap the benefits
Also yes i wuold say 95% of people that post here regualrly would be considered gamers. why else would you come to a forum about games. the other 5% is people who come to just ask a quick question now and then lol. And also sorry if i referred to you as a guy, wasn't intentional. Force of habit i guess??
We'd still ove to have you join team Arelex though
I have nothing against XBox. I ended up on Playstations because, back when I was still gaming on my Super Nintendo, my uncle had a PS1 and "Spyro the Dragon". I got so addicted to that game that PS1 was my choice for my next console. As I got into more games and, ultimately, wanted their sequels, I just kept upgrading Sony consoles as they came along. Chances are I'd have an XBox, too, but I have played one a few times and just find the controller too big and awkard in my hands. Cramps me up trying to play for longer than 20 minutes or so, which I don't experience with my smaller, thinner PS controller. So, really personal preference for me, but I respect the unit and its players. Competition makes both consoles stronger and better. And I almost ignored the hand cramping and almost bought a used XBox here recently anyway because I really wanted to experience the original Mass Effect. Getting a used XBox was my backup plan if my laptop couldn't handle ME (but it did, so I'm stumbling my way through that with the keyboard and mouse. LOL).
No worries on gender. Wasn't just you; have had several threads recently where I keep getting called a he. It's a natural assumption, honestly. Even *I* assume everyone here is a "he" unless I already know otherwise.
The Team Arelex decision is a weighted one for me. I'm usually on ME3 MP pretty regularly, so could probably make time commitments to tournaments or whatnot. But I have no recording equipment and, with a tight budget these days, don't plan on getting any. I am also not elite. I think I am slightly above average, but that's it. I mostly felt a bit offended at the "most PS3 players aren't real gamers" opinion because I do feel I am a real gamer, but I fully admit I lack any eliteness.
I do hope some PS3 players join, though. I would be happy to join under a player(s) that have led gaming groups before and possess recording equipment and try to better myself. But I would not be the right one to try and be a team leader.
