I'm usually torn between each side. If I were a mage I would want freedom to not live under Templar vigilance and to not be be executed whenever the right of annulment is called, and to freely explore the edges of magic.

If I were a Templar, I would have been raised to think Magic is a curse, and think we are protecting Mages from the public and themselves, to be always vigilante against rogue Mages and abominations. To stand as a protector of faith and serve the Chantry against the most dangerous forms of magic and those who wield it.

How about you?

Neither

But if I had to choose I go with the Mages. Why, because the Templars would be a more interesting fight.

Most arguments on these forums inluding you is about the morality of the current system. But in my opinion thats not relevant. This is a world where humanity can wind up extinct or enslaved. So you need to look what is needed to avoid these futures. The answer is mages and magic. So any argument the templars make about security is worthless. In fact they are endangering the entire human race even if they have good intensions. So im always with the mages

I side with the mages. Nothing excuses the inherent abuses of the Circle system.

The Grey Wardens. Because, let's face it, someone has to look out for people other than themselves. They're also the least insane, which is a bonus!

I am a lawful knight. Why would I want to be with any of them? Both sides are insane, corrupted and selfish SOBs who only think for themselves. They're no better than darkspawns who prey on innocent lives. Therefore, they need to be exterminated from the face of Thedas.

Mages. A lot of the mages only turn to blood magic to escape the templars. I support the idea of a circle, but it should be a learning place, not a prison. Most people would be willing to go there and study if you aren't force to be there. Mages get separated from their family simply because of who they are is just cruel.

Mages. I can see both sides of the issue, but the circle in it's current incarnation just offers too much power on one side.

Well, I significantly differentiate between "Templars", "Templars of Kirkwall", "Tevinter Templars" and "Meredith". And mages? Don't get me started on them.

So, I'd like to be a benevolent magister whose power is unmatched in the entire Tevinter. Emphasis on benevolent part.

I side with the Imperium! Really that would be my ideal charcter, but since I have not yet been allowed to be a tevinter mage it just depends who I am playing as.

I normally side with the mages, but I try to keep who I side with situational based. Looking at the reality of the state of Thedas, both sides are now free and rogue. You'll have abominations and blood mages, because I don't know how much oversight the mages will have over themselves right off the bat, or if they'll allow certain things to give them an edge against templars.

But with the templars and the recruiting methods they've had for centuries, I'm dealing with religious zealots who'll feel that any extreme action they do will be justified in the eyes of the maker, even if it means ransacking the countryside so they could get their lyrium fix.

So, depending on how the choices in future games are implemented, I'm probably going to go with the mages. But if the mage in front of me deserves to be put to the sword, is a criminal, and the templar is a decent guy who only wants to protect people, I'll probably side with the templar in that instance.

So as of right now, I'm with the mages, but I'll see if it changes in DA3.

Well you end up getting betrayed no matter who you pick so it doesn't really matter. But mages seems like the best option if i have to pick one.
